from both trips i've made to North America, i've come away with the realisation that if the world was top heavy then surely North America would be the heaviest. Its not that we in Australia dont have fast food places, however unlike the north we dont crowd together all 8 or more food chains within a mile radius. Even towns that are smaller then many down under have more fast food places then we have. Surely this must mean only 1 thing. Americans especially eat too much fast food. Hence the 'top heavy' comment.
North America is the home of the Fast Food Outlet.Among the offerings started here are:McDonald'sBurger KingKentucky Fried ChickenPizza HutJack in the BoxWendy'sI am sure you get the picture.

Beer, I'd have to say, is not as good as in Europe. There are so notable exceptions, but overall, the quality is not as high. However, you can get almost any kind of beer from all around the world, so don't worry!Wine, on the other hand, is excellent. California is not the only wine making region of North America. With a little research, you can find excellent wines from all over the place.

While it's hard to put your finger on what exactly North America food is (it's not as clearly defined as something like Indian food), there's no doubt that you can get top quality cuisines from all over the world. In major North American cities, it's possible to have a different type of food every day of the year.

My favorite restaurant is the Hungry Lion, located in the Nuuanu area. It's a locally owned spot that is a good family place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Very friendly atmosphere. While I was a tourist, I wasn't treated like one. I happened to be there on Sunday morning and the NFL game was on. Everyone one of the regulars cheered and talked about the teams and I was invited to join right in. Anything on the Menu. I haven't found an item I didn't like.
Great people, terrific personnel, very clean facilites and the atmosphere is quite agreeable. Members and guests only permitted. Special holiday parties include Sweetheart dances, Christmas and others, as do fish frys, spaghetti and steak dinners (which are open to the general public). State Lottery gaming machines are also on the premises. It's all good - but I'll take the steak and fries anytime...
One of several resturants that are most pleasurable is the Golden Corral. Many different things to choose from, heavy foods to delicate desearts. You pay one low price, and go to the buffet where everything is a joy to behold and eat as much as you would like. :)There are senior citizen discounts available, and you can have private parties, and bithday parties for the little ones. The resturent is well lit and tastefully decorated. Six or seven different kinds of salads, beginning with the toss salads, macoroni salad, potato salad, jello, pudding etc. Of course there are home baked warm rolls etc. potatoes, are mashed or baked or french fried, meats include roast beef, carved ham, baked and broiled chicken, hambergers, etc. vegitables, corn, beets peas, beans etc much much more. desearts pies, cakes, pizza, sundays cookies, and brownies. I think this will give you an idea and has truly...
Stubbs Barbecue in Austin, Texas.Great atmosphere - this is also a live music venue featuring some good alternative country bands. Photos of famous people who have played here adorn the walls. Beef Brisket in a fantastic barbecue sauce.
Why not try eating anywhere except at chain restaurants for a while. First of all , the food won't be worse; likewise the prices. More importantly, you will get out from under the impersonal shroud that covers the American freeway-driving experience. The local restaurants and cafes of Main-Street America are full of life and warmth, personalities and characters. People talk to each other, exchange the latest gossip, even ask strangers where they're from and where they're going. It may take you 15 minutes extra to leave the freeway, drive into town, and find a restaurant, but you're likely to observe more about that region over your meal than you could discover by eating for a week at the interstate chain restaurants. Look for the ordinary cafes where America and its people can still be seen 'in the rough': farmers, truck drivers, local businessmen, ranchers, salesmen, housewives,...
