St. Pierre et Miquelon is a department of France. St. Pierre is a number of islands. However, only two of these are occupied; St. Pierre et Miquelon. Miquelon is the larger. However, it is definately off the beaten path.Miquelon is a community of about 1100 persons. Miquelon is at the north of the Isle of Grand Miquelon; Miquelon is joined by sandbanks, beaches etc to other islands,notably Lesser Miquelon. The Miquelons joined by the sandbars together is called Langlade.Unlike the rocky, barren St. Pierre Isle, Langlande has more trees and bush. However, there are no caribou or moose. Local residents often hunt on Newfoundland's south coast; a short boatride away. There is an international agreement to this effect.It is possible to camp on both St. Pierre and on Langlade. In the summer there are community events held on Langlade; marathons etc.You can get to Miquelon by ferry from St....
