Abbeville has a very neat historic district that really takes you back to the 40s, 50s and 60s; including the piped-in music. It has several buildings of historical and/or architectural interest and is well worth seeing.

Abbeville is a small town in Southeast Alabama, with a population of about 2700. It is the county seat of Henry County and is the oldest colonial town still in existence in Eastern Alabama having been established around 1814. The town was named after a local Indian creek meaning "grove of dogwoods". it is the first town alphabetically, both city and state. listed in the US. Henry County is often referred to as "the mother county" because many of the other counties were formed out of it. It was named after Patrick Henry, the patriot who stated "Give me liberty or give me death".
