$11 as of April 2013. From what I heard the atmosphere in the Zazu Gastropub used to be a lot less laid back. When I visited it was a pretty cozy place with good food and good service. The staff seemed professional and friendly enough. The menu tends toward Angus Steak and fresh seafood. As it was lunch, and I had a good breakfast, I just opted for some chicken & andouille sausage gumbo. They have beer, wine and mixed drinks too. Hours are 11 AM to 2 AM Monday through Saturday (but the kitchen closes at 10 PM Monday through Thursday and at 11 PM Firday and Saturday).
Favorite Dish: My gumbo was excellent. Many of the people I talked to around the university said they loved Zazu!
hamilton's is a nice cafe style restaurant located on magnolia street, downtown. hamilton's offers southern american cuisine at moderate prices. since auburn is a college town most of the restaurants near the campus are a good dining value.
I know this is a chain, but as such they always do a pretty good job on what they do. They were pretty busy the evening we stopped for a light dinner and sat us on the porch. Although it was not scenic, it was a most pleasant atmosphere.
Favorite Dish: Bloomin' Onion is always a good appetizer to share with about 4-6 people.
Baked sweet potatoes with butter and cinnamon (I get them to go light on the cinnamon) are always tasty.
Coconut shrip with remolade sauce from the appetizer menu is delicious.
Their steaks are always pretty good and large. I usually opt for one of the smaller ones.
This whole establishment is new (within the last year) and is a very attractive facility. The restaurant is no exception with a large and uncrowded dining room and several little alcoves like the one in the photo. Their menu is pretty diverse and imaginative without being too trendy. I don't remember much about the wine list but we had a nice merlot.
Favorite Dish: The citrus salad is wonderful: nice greens with grapefruit, mandarin oranges, Granny Smith apples, toasted pecans and goat cheese.
Shrimp stuffed with a crayfish stuffing and mornay sauce accompanied by either potato or rice and veggies. Very tasty.
They have a prime rib and seafood buffet every Friday evening. Some of our friends went and were very happy with it.
