There are several other buildings of historic and architectural interest in town. Many of them are on US Highways 31 and 29. The business district at the intersection of US Highway 31 and Alabama Highway 3 is listed on the National Register of Historic Locations.

Thankfully, when they built the new courthouse in 1960, they did not tear down the old courthouse from 1901. It still stands across the street from the new one. Personally, I think it is prettier. The old courthouse was bought by one of the leading families that has lived in Escambia County for many years. It is now used as their personal home.

The new Escambia County Courthouse was built in 1960. If you look at the new and old courthouses together it appears they tried to pay homage to the old courthouse when they built the new one. There is a small park across the street from the courthouse with a gazebo and a fountain.

The place I first learned about Golf.
The Country Club of Brewton (the newer one for those old time residents)
An 18 hole regulation course, home to PGA Boo Weekley, 72 par, 7,019 yards

This is an archeological museum with artifacts and historical exhibits. There are prehistoric American and early American military and civilian sections, plus exhibits which interpret the heritage of the region. Guided tours are available.
Mon-Thurs 8-2
Friday 8-noon
Closed first week of June, first week of September and the last two weeks of December.
FREE
We have not visited this museum because we were here at the end of December when it was closed - and we probably would not have gone in any case because we didn't know how long it would take us to get to our next destination. But it was in both the AAA guide and on the Alabama map.

This restaurant had an interesting blend of architecture, and I liked the lion dogs by the doors. The inside had an Asian flavor. This is an all you can eat buffet but there are a limited number of choices. The food was pretty tasty and they appeared to bring out fresh items often. Good desert! The girl working the cash register was very cute; but young.
Favorite Dish: Good shrimp dish and Banana Pudding (not Chinese but good!!)

This is a small restaurant, not much seating room, most of the people that ordered when we was there just ordered to go but several did stay. The waitresses were very friendly and they brought a jug of sweet tea out to our table so we had plenty. They had great sweet tea which seems to be a rare find at alot of restaurants.
Favorite Dish: My husband had the beef brisket and chicken plate ,he talked it up alot, said it was great.Moist and tender.I had the ribs they actually fell off of the bone, they were delicious.I would really recommend them.
