View of the white ornate home

WE got here on a Sunday, and therefore closed. People in town indicated it may not be open on Monday either, and that was the Memorial DAy. WE did not stay around to find out. The home was built in 1884, and renovations upgrade to look Greek Revival made in 1901-06. Eli Shorter died two years later, but his wife lived there until 1927, and later a daughter lived there until 1960's. Due to lack of funds, it was auctioned in 1965, and some town residents bought it and reworked the deteriorated structure.
The home has 17 columns around the porch

This home was built in 1860 by Edward & Ann Young, and it remained in the family until around 1940's. The historic Society now owns it, and it is open for viewing Mon-Friday 10-4, but was closed to us on Memorial Day holiday. Admission is $5. It is said to have black & white marble hall squares, pine floors, and a great deal of furniture inside.
