First Fridays In Florence Art Fair

This is a new event in Florence and already the response has been awesome. The downtown merchants have agreed to allow artists and musicians set up in front of the storefronts on the first Friday of every month. The artists offer their work for sale. The music is an eclectic mix and there is a general carnival atmosphere with town’s people and tourists mixing on the street. There are also activities provided for children. I would advise anyone wanting to have dinner at a downtown restaurant to get your name on the list early. They will be swamped during the fair. The hours are 5pm to 8pm. In case of rain the merchants adopt an artist and the whole fair moves inside. The event is free for artists, muscians and visitors.

Anyone looking for antiques in the Shoals area needs to be aware of the Shoals Antique Dealers Association web site. www.ShoalsAntiques.com
It offers information, addresses, and photographs for the area's antique shops and malls. The web site also offers a "Wish List" sign up where you can contact all the local dealers to ask if they have a particular item in stock. There is also a sign up notice for upcoming events and estate auctions in the area.

What to buy: The shops in the Shoals area carry a variety of antique and vintage items including glassware, pottery, linens, furniture, jewelry, collectibles, memorabilia, musical instruments, books, oriental carpets, and much more!

What to pay: Plenty of bargains available. Most shops in the area are reasonable.

the Rage Studio of Hair Design: LA in AL

Unbelievably modern. A mix between deco and ultra modern. The salon is designed like it should be on Rodeo Drive not Florence Blvd. The most up-to- date services and products. The shop is one of the cleanest shops I have ever been in. You can get your hair colored and watch one of the four TV while you process, or get a spa pedicure while you wait. Los angleles has come to Alabama! (with out the price.)

What to buy: They are one of the few salons in all of alabama that caryy the Bumble and bumble line of hair products.

What to pay: 30 for a cut plus 75 for two colour highlights.
