    the cornwall furnace was built by the noble brothers to provide iron products to the confederacy during the civil war. the pig iron ingots produced at the furnace were sent to the noble brothers foundry in nearby rome georgia for manufacture of war materials. the furnace was taken out of production by union troops in 1864. the cornwall furnace is listed on the national register of historic places. the cornwall furance is located at cornwall furnace memorial park on CR 251 just north of downtown cedar bluff alabama.
    from gadsden take US 411 to centre alabama then AL 9 to cedar bluff.

    pictured is a monument to the surrender site of union colonel abel streight to confederate general nathan bedford forrest on may 2 nd 1864. this confederate victory spared the town of rome georgia from union attack.
    from gadsden take US 411 north to centre alabama then Al 9 to cedar bluff. the surrender site is on Al 9 just east of downtown cedar bluff.
