Gulf Shores Things to Do

  • Gulf Shores Lagoon

This a a large lake isolated from the ocean by a small strip of sand and beach homes. It is not used much, and views of the area high rise units are visible

  • Habitat Animals

Walking along the paths in the state park-be aware there are some animals that can bee seen, but also could be dangerous. I had to kill a snake when it was approaching me on the path, and I did not want to kill it, but had no choice. The state park has a lot of trails and camping and picnicking available.

  • Rows of Beach Homes

These homes have had a series of rebuilding over the years as hurricanes and strong winds take them down. Now there is water standing in the roads in places due to reconfiguration of the sand and erosion. Most are simple second homes and not overbearing in being show pieces and monuments of wealth.

  • Beach for Sun & WAter

The town has many public accesses to the beach, and also has the same at Ocean Beach to the east. There are not a lot of crowds to pack the beach and it is big and deep for many beach chairs and umbrellas.

  • Fort Conde

An impressive replica fort built originally in the 18th century by the French. It opened in 1976 and has a museum underground displaying the attire during that era for military uniforms and weapons and other items for the period. It is just right in the downtown area on 11 acres, and a nice tour. The fort was built by French in 1723, and later...

Gulf Shores Restaurants

  • Top Quality Food in Gulf Shores Area

We have had breakfast in many places from west coast to the east coast and you will not find a better breakfast or a Southern Home Cooked meal. This family owned restaurant puts their heart and soul into everything they do. If you are not happy, they are not happy. Their quality and Standards are very high. The staff and attention to detail are...

  • Ocean's Restaurant

Ocean's Restaurant about 4 miles down Ft. Morgan Rd. is a great place to get away from the crowd. They have a nice variety of food from seafood to burgers and italian alfredo. Plus their dessert is amazing too. Grouper Po Boy

  • Home of the Throwed Rolls

Lambert's Cafe specializes in down-home cookin'. Employees travel around the restaraunt with buckets of "fixin's" - good ol' southern stuff like macaroni 'n' tomatoes and sorghum 'n' molasses. That sorghum 'n' molasses is good to spread over your hot roll, which will be "throwed" to you from across the restaraunt whenever you raise your hand....

  • DON'T GO HERE!!!!!

Want bad service? Want a manager who threatens to call the police because you decline the automatic tipping? Want a staff who bashes other customers in front of customers? Then this is the place for you! Otherwise, I can recommend many others better. The food was second rate (one of our diners is sick from it), they couldn't get ANYONE'S order...

  • Since 1983

The first time we tried to eat here it was closed (may it was because it was Monday or maybe it was because it was New Years). But eventually (January 3rd which was a Tuesday) we went when it was open. Apparently there is also a branch in Mobile on Battleship Parkway which was opened two years after the original Original in 1985. They have Early...

  • Tired of Seafood?

On Wednesday, January 4th, we ate at Jake's Steakhouse. We drove out Gulf Shores Parkway in search of something that had lights to show that was open at this time of year and after the hurricanes. There were several restaurants right together in this complex including Doc's Seafood Shack, but at the moment, I didn't want seafood. Although actually...

Gulf Shores Warnings and Dangers

  • contaminated water and beaches

If you want to swim you need to know that 6000.00 gallons of raw sewage were released into Mobile bay today 3/15/12 and they continue to find oil on the beaches. Maybe you should consider Florida east coast.

  • Bag it at the Beach

Sometimes, getting ready for a full day of fun in the sun on the Alabama Gulf Coast with the wholefamily reminds me of trying to plan a military invasion.
