The latest in the Alabama chain (plus one location in MS), this location is overlooks the beautiful Lake Guntersville. Plaques with witty sayings cover the walls, just as in the original restaurant in downtown Mobile, AL.
Wintzell's is famous for their oysters - "fried, stewed and nude," the menu says, but the menu includes Southern favorites like gumbo, cream of crab soup and fried green tomatoes. Other seafood dishes include flounder, mahi mahi, catfish, crabs and shrimp prepared myriad ways. Landlubbers can order steak. Prices range from $5.99 for stew to $22.99 for filet mignon, with baked oyster specials in the $13 to $15 range.
Favorite Dish: I very much enjoyed the fried green tomatoes - golden brown, wonderful sauce. I also had a fried shrimp po-boy which assuaged my New Orleans homesickness, at least for a little while. My companion had the lump crabcakes, and he raved about them.

Porkys is a bar-b-que place off the beaten path located 15 minutes from Guntersville going north in a small town called GRANT. Yes, they have B-B-Q. but on Fridays...they serve the best Black Angus steak I have ever had...a 12oz. and with a huge salad and baked potatoe..and rolls...umm umm. They also serve a Prime Rib...good lord..this thing melts in your mouth. You better get there at 6:00 or ya gonna have to wait in line. This is a local secret so you gonna have to ask around..The people at Golden Pawn can tell you about this place and where it is located...everybody knows Golden Pawn.
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish that they have is the Black Angus Ribeye and their Prime Rib. Oh...they also have seafood on Fridays....ummm ummm

Golden Pawn is the special place to visit in Guntersville. They have had visitors from England, Austrailia, Russia, China, and Africa. They seem to never meet a stranger...must have been this way from there whole family who owns Golden Pawn.
What to buy: The bargains at Golden Pawn are unreal and the quality of the used items they have is super. Heck...go wild and buy everything!
What to pay: Well...they are always open to offers.

The state park is a must visit. They have a great golf course...really great. And the view from the park is phenomenal. You cant get a view like this except in a magazine. The rooms are great and the people there are really nice and accomadating.

Guntersville is ranked in the top 10 lakes in the nation for bass fishing.
Equipment: Fishing poles do help! But if you dont have one..go to Golden Pawn...they have plenty of used ones...and real cheap. They can even get you hooked up with a local friend of theirs...Carthel Grayson...he wont mind at all taking you out to fish. Just hang on tho...his boat really flies....and he's a really nice guy
