Cafe Baba: If you need a European fix....

by LBKesner Updated Apr 4, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Try for a meal or just for coffee and dessert.

This small restaurant features a lovely display of desserts, a nice selection of sandwiches, a variety of crepes, and good coffees. With tables very close together, a European feel pervades the restaurant; it’s easy to start a conversation here with fellow brunchers, lunchers, or diners.

Favorite Dish: At Cafe Baba, I suggest your starting with an order of hummus with pita bread and olives. Then, enjoy a panini, crepe, or quiche before having a coffee with a pastry—a hazelnut/chocolate with a little gold flourish in the middle is my favorite, and you might want to take home an almond croissant for breakfast the next day! Also, ask about the soup of the day; the tomato and the corn chowder have been our favorites so far.

  • Phil Sandoval's: Great food and service!

by flashtwin Written Apr 23, 2008

Phil Sandoval's is the newest mexican restaurant in Huntsville. Locally owned with great food and service. They seat over 200 people and are family friendly. The specialty items are all very good- shrimp enchiladas, fish tacos, and pollo con rajas (chicken with pepper strips) are all tasty. The black bean cheese dip is also good. The house special is a mango margarita- and they do happy hour from 4-6pm M-F.

Favorite Dish: My favorite dish is the acapulco chicken nachos. They are nachos topped with refried black beans and grilled chicken marinated in raspberry chipolte sauce with little chunks of pineapple and cheese melted all over the top. They come with home-made guacamole, sour cream, and pico and are plenty for two people to share.

  • Soulburger: Best Homemade Burgers

This is a small old-fashioned hamburger place. I've been eating there for about 3 years, and I've never been disappointed. It's got real atmosphere and the owner is a super person. They make homade burgers and several nights a week, offer home cooked dinners.

Favorite Dish: A soulburger combo (1/3 lb burger, fries and a drink) will cost you less than $5. If you are hungrier, the Big Daddy is excellent.

  • Phuket: It is really extraordinary thai experience!

    Phuket Extraordinary Thai Experience

It is a brand new establishment in town. I would say it's one of the nicest thai restaurant I have seen by far. It got a good combination of thai sand stones and the fine art paintings on the wall. It doesn't look like they can mingle easily, but they do at this restaurant. With lighting, contemporary music, wall colors, the restaurant has a great environment for dining in. I can't believe there is a great thai restaurant in the south. It has many varieties on the menu. Seems like it has something for everyone. If you don't like spicy thai food, you can try Sushi, penang, or masaman. I myself had a Fried Tofu with dipping sauce as an appetizer and red snapper crispy basil as an entree. It has red snapper filet with chicken basil sauce, served with warm brown rice (good for your health) and I love it. Then I tried a dessert, Fried Icecream, they really fried ice-cream and served you hot! Try it. It's great. I like the raspberry sauce (I guess) on top of the icecream. I really want get a recipe how to do this sauce. It was a great great meal I ever had in town.

Favorite Dish: Red Snapper Crispy Basil is great. It comes with britter red snapper file and basil sauce on top of it. I like the fresh taste of red snappers and not so spicy of the crumbly ground chicken basil sauce. The presentation is nice and it makes you hungry when you see it. The portion is right, not too big not too small. I also like brown rice they serve. When you order your entreee, don't forget to ask for brown rice. You'll love it.

    Greenbrier: Welcome to Alabama

by kyrzar Updated Oct 23, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are two Greenbriers, Greenbrier Restaurant and Greenbrier BBQ. I'm not sure what caused them to split up, but basically Greenbrier Restaurant got the cool old building while Greenbrier BBQ really has the original finger-lickin-good food. This food is Alabama in its essence.

Favorite Dish: My favorite item is the big plate of darkmeat chicken. Other things that are good are the barbecue and the catfish. The coleslaw is my favorite of all time. You may also notice north Alabama's two local barbecue sauces on the table... red sauce (thin sauce from vinegar and cayenne) and white sauce (vinegar, mayonnaise, and black pepper i think). Greenbrier really does the white sauce well.

Surin of Thailand: What would Grandpa Jones say about this?

    Suring of Thailand

In the South, one often gives directions by "what used to be there," so for locals, this restaurant is located where the Green Bottle Grille "used to be." That is, it is located on Airport Road on the right side of the road if you are coming from South Memorial Parkway.

...nice adult atmosphere with candles on tables, etc.

Favorite Dish: Chicken Masaman with Avocado is my favorite dish. Also try the coconut soup and take a look at the large martini menu. A good appetizer choice is the seared tuna. Sushi, here, is also good.

Pick up a picnic breakfast or lunch.

This is a great place to pick up a great loaf of bread, a muffin, or a sandwich.

Favorite Dish: Most mornings, you can get sausage kolaches, as well as kolaches with fruit or other sweet fillings. They also make a great jalapeno and cheddar bread.

Concession: Fast food. Just like any other major attraction.

    by tony248 Written Dec 7, 2002

The on-site concession is fast food. Not too bad but it can be a problem to eat here when the kids from the Space Camp are on lunch break. Long lines are to be expected. The good news is that there are several really good resturants close by. Our favorite was the Ruby Tuesday's just up the Interstate from the Park.

Favorite Dish: Lunch was a hamburger, chips, and a drink. Quality was fair.

Favorite Dish: Teriyaki Club Steak - no need for steaksauce - I almost always order this one

Rosies Canteena- It is the best Mexican Resturant in H'ville
The resturant's decore is rustic looking and has the theme of gas stations, rustic and worn out buildings that would be found in Mexico

Favorite Dish: I love the steak faitas. You get lots of cut up steak with cooked onion, bell pepper, tomatoes and rice and refried beans on the side. They serve all the chips and salsa you want. It is good tooo!!!
