    Luverne is a town of about 2800 located in Southern Alabama along US Highway 331. Luverne was established in 1889 as a terminus for the railroad. It quickly outgrew neighboring towns and was made the county seat of Crenshaw County in 1893. Crenshaw County which was formed in 1866.

    Luverne has a nice historic district with several buildings of historical and/or architectural interest. The entire Luverne Historic District is listed in the National register of Historic Places.
