Most Viewed Restaurants in Alabama

  • LuLu’s: LuLu’s

    by Marika12 Written Sep 14, 2012

Owned and operated by Jimmy Buffett’s sister, Lucy, this restaurant is as much amusement park as eatery. Known for their “Cheeseburgers in Paradise” (yes, like Jimmy’s song), you can create your own burger, a la the “Crazy Sista Version”. The restaurant also boasts many Southern fried specialties, such as the ever-delectable Fried Green Tomatoes served with LuLu’s Wow Sauce, and their own brew, the Crazy Sista Honey Ale.

Favorite Dish: Make sure you leave time to look around the gift shop, use the photo booth, climb the Mountain of Youth (a ropes course) and even take in some live music.

Hooters: Decent Food, Great Waitresses in Mobile

by Basaic Written Sep 25, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Hooters is best known for their wings and the cute women running around in bright orange short shorts and Hooters T-Shirts. The food is usually pretty good, the selection of beers fine, and the women quite attractive. Decor tends to center around a bar atmosphere and sports. The women were quite cute and friendly.

Favorite Dish: I had fried butterfly shrimp with Cajun sauce. It was good, I just wish not everything was fried.

Radley's Fountain Grille: Good Seafood in Monroeville

by Basaic Written Apr 12, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I wanted to eat here because of the name. One of the most interesting characters in "To Kill a Mockingbird" was "Boo" Radley. Radley's serves chicken, steak, ribs and pasta but most come here for the seafood. They also have cheesecake and key lime pie for dessert. Hours are 11 AM to 9 PM Monday to Saturday. They recently started to open on Sunday but I am not sure of the hours.

by RhondaRuth Updated Apr 4, 2011

Steaks and Ribs are their specialty!

Favorite Dish: I can't say enough about the "all you can eat peanuts" and the yeast rolls! Super rolls!! Only I can't eat all that many, LOL! I had a GREAT steak here also.

We ate at the one in Bessemer, but I understand that the one in Pelham is also very good!

Bimini Bob's: Great Seafood in Daphne

by Basaic Written Apr 18, 2010

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is not the place to go if you are on a real tight budget; but if you can spend a little extra the seafood is quite good. The name came from a small group of islands in the Bahamas occupied by people known for their hospitality, love of music, and joy of life. The decor invokes the islands and there was a nice deck in the back with a beautiful view of Mobile Bay. They serve wine, beer, frozen daquiris and Pina Coladas. Hours are 11 AM to 9 PM Monday Thursday and 11 AM to 10 PM Friday through Sunday. They also have live music from 6 PM to 9 PM Friday and Saturday.

If you have plenty of money try the Compleat Angler Platter with fish, crawfish, oysters, shrimp, conch fritters and a stuffed crab for $22.

Favorite Dish: Compleat Angler Platter. Lots of food well prepared.

American Lunch Cafe: Good Southern Food in Geneva

by Basaic Written Apr 5, 2010

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The American Lunch Cafe serves homemade southern food. That means very tasty food, lots of fried food and no caring about the cholesterol crisis. Outside, the building in concrete block painted white. Inside are bits of nostalgia (what we call Americana) and items reflecting the importance of God, country and family. They have a nice mural dedicated to those serving and having served in the military. The owners were very friendly. They do not serve dinner. Hours are 6 AM to 2 PM Tuesday through Sunday. They are closed on Monday.

Favorite Dish: I had a nice thick slab of country ham with mashed potatos, green beans and a big biscuit. Tasted great!

Hunan Chinese Restaurant: Chinese Buffet in Brewton

by Basaic Updated Apr 4, 2010

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant had an interesting blend of architecture, and I liked the lion dogs by the doors. The inside had an Asian flavor. This is an all you can eat buffet but there are a limited number of choices. The food was pretty tasty and they appeared to bring out fresh items often. Good desert! The girl working the cash register was very cute; but young.

Favorite Dish: Good shrimp dish and Banana Pudding (not Chinese but good!!)

Tiger Pause: Healthy Food in Tuskeege

by Basaic Written Aug 21, 2009

Tiger Pause is a coffehouse located in one of the buildings comprising the Tuskegee Historic District. They serve a wide variety of coffees, teas, smoothies, ice cream and light food. The food includes turkey chili, turkey sandwiches and home made soups. Unlike some places they have heard about the ongoing cholesterol problem and the items they serve are low fat and low cholesterol. The peope working there were nice, too.

Favorite Dish: Try the sweet potato pecan bread pudding and some coffe or herbal tea.

China Pavilion: Adequate Chinese Food in Tuskegee

by Basaic Written Aug 21, 2009

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This place appears to specialize in food to go. Decor is minimal. The portions were very large but the food was only average.

Favorite Dish: I had the Garlic Chicken which was abundant with vegetables but more limited with the chicken.

    Johnny Rockets: hamburgers and malts

by Gloriann Updated Jul 6, 2009

The atmosphere of this place is like the 1950's. The food was good and did remind me of the hamburgers and malts I used to get back in the 1950's. The malts were made in a machine and served to you in the metal container from the machine chilled, with a glass you poor your malt in yourself. It is served this way at Johnny Rockets, too! The prices were not from the 1950's though.

Favorite Dish: Hamburger and chocolate malt

Nikki's: Meat and Three in Heaven

by Gaiatouring Written Sep 5, 2007

Nikki's is a Cafeteria style lunch place that serves 1500 people a day. Some of the best southern vegtables you will ever taste outside a home. Take I-65 exit for Finley road just north of Birmingham, and take Finley a mile west. You can't miss the gravel parking lot, always full at lunch. They will try to hurry you through the line with politeness "may I help you sir, may I help you sir, may I..." but tkae your time and pick well. Enjoy!

Favorite Dish: Sweet Potatoes, boiled okra, stewed tomatoes

  • Sante Fe Cattle Co: Go somewheres else!

by thebayratt Written Apr 23, 2007

    Food: Dry, Burnt, Overcooked
Wait staff is extremely unfriendly and arseholes.
Best food here: the waiting room free peanuts.

The waiter laughed in her face when she thought her food was comming and it was the table next to us. TWICE he laughed at her. Never offered us rolls. Then got my girlfriend's order wrong, left half of the rice (that she didn't order)on the plate then tried to cover it up.... maybe they thought she wouldn't see it AFTER SHE ATE THE FOOD ONTOP?!?!?? I ordered a medium rare steak and it was as dry as a highschool cafeteria hamburger.(Maybe thats why it was "The Special". My girlfriend ordered a medium sirloin and it was BURNT and extremly well done. Then had to wait over 20 minutes for another steak. She then asked for a roll to eat while she waited...... never got it either.....The waiter never mentioned dropping off our bill (tried to hide it under a napkin) then, when I did pay and he brought back my change he dropped it on the table and walked off. Not even saying "Thanks; everything ok?; ya'll have a good day; come back and see us; a kiss my butt" or anything. AFTER I SPENT $50 FOR A MEAL NOT WORTH $1.50!

Favorite Dish: The free waiting room peanuts. Because they are free and in the waiting room and don't have to deal with any of rude wait staff in the waiting room.

Kalico Kitchen: The Taste of Small Town America

    by Stephen-KarenConn Updated Dec 7, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

One of the things I enjoy most about traveling the back roads of the United States is the discovery of local eateries such as the Kalico Kitchen. Almost every small town has one - a place where businessmen in suits and ties, laborers in dirty overalls, the Lions Club and the Ladies Garden Club all come out for lunch. In fact, don't show up for dinner, because they close at 2:00 p.m. However, for breakfast and lunch the Kalico Kitchen can't be beat. I decided to stop when I saw the parking lot plum full of cadillacs, jalopies, and pick-up trucks.

    Kalico Kitchen is open 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tuesday - Sunday (Closed Monday).

    Judy Deason, Manager

Favorite Dish: For only $4.95 you can have the lunch buffet, which includes pan fried chicken done right, plus a beef/potato casserole, collard greens, sweet potatoes, blackeyed peas, salad fixin's, cornbread, chocolate pudding and more. Don't forget the freshly brewed sweet iced tea for only $1.00, with all the free refills you can drink.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store & Restaurant: Good Country Cooking

by RhondaRuth Updated Jul 10, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You can get good downhome cooking here. There are a number of them throughout Alabama. We went to the one in Bessemer we enjoyed the food and looking around the store before being seated. After dinner we sat in the rockers on the front porch enjoying the moment!

Terrific prices in the store also!!

Favorite Dish: We only ate here the one time, so I haven't picked a favorite dish. Maybe once we've been back a few more times, I'll have a special faviorite. What I did have this time was good Southern cooking. Try it out!
