Founded in 1967, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame honors athletes from Alabama or those with a connection to the state. Exhibits and displays portray the careers of 233 champions, including such notable sports figures as Olympic gold medalist Jesse Owens, former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, the great boxer Joe Louis, football quarterback Joe Namath, basketball player Charles Barkley, and baseball legends Willie Mays and Hank Aaron.

Over 4,000 pieces of memorabilia, such as vintage equipment, uniforms, trophies, medals, and photographs fill three floors of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Visitors can also experience interactve kiosks, a video theater, capsule biographies, life-size dioramas, and bronze busts.

Voted NASCAR'S most competitive track. Some of the largest sporting events in Alabama are held at the Talladega Superspeedway, which presents two 5--mile races, one in April and one in October.

There is a boat ramp giving access to the Tallapoosa River right next to the Miller Bridge on the edge of the Horseshoe Bend National Park. The Tallapoosa is fairly wide and makes for decent boating. You are not supposed to fish except for from the area by the boat ramp.

There is a 2.8 mile nature trail in the park. Most of the other trails lead to exhibits about the park and are relatively short, paved, and handicapped accessable.

Good walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, water, bug repellant.

There is a small area set aside for swimming and wading. The water can be very refreshing on a hot summer day in Alabama.

    Swim trunks (skinnydipping is discoraged)

There are several hiking trails throughout the 696 acre park. The one the ranger recommended, and that I hiked, was the trail to the falls. It was fairly short but steep at times and had rough footing. The falls was kinda nice though.

Good walking shoes, water, sunscreen a hat. Don't forget the bug repellant.

Robert Trent Jones designs are going to feature big multi-tiered greens and intimidating approach shots to greens guarded by bunkers and water.

The layouts are fair, but at the same time most challenging.

The green's fees are very affordable, especially if you go during off peak periods or as part of a package. Great value for your money. I believe that carts are mandatory and with some of the elevation changes, that's probably a good thing.
