The place is small but has incredible steaks & the fattest beer battered onion rings! For the healthier side they have a great grilled chicken salad & unique stuffed potato. For those wanting a taste of authentic Southern cooking they make traditional "Fried Green Tomatoes" (when in season) they even have fried pickles! They also bottle their own hot sauce for a kick to your food! The place is a local fave & usually VERY busy! For you dinner drinkers or just social drinkers there is a bar in side w/big screen TV! It is located w/in walking distance of a motel & Walmart. Lots of parking area.
Bacon cheeseburger & onion rings! The flavor of the hamburger meat is a unique seasoning blend & just downright tasty & the onion rings so big & crunchy you can't finish it all. When we were looking for a place to have dinner on Christmas Eve, there wasn't any place open except the fast food places. Jack's in Talledega was the first one we came to. Later we saw Wendy's and Burger King
Apparently Jack's was Alabama's first chain restauarnt back in the early 60s. It has mostly burgers and chicken, but they advertise bologna biscuits.
I had a chicken dinner, with two sides (mine were mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans). I also got a drink and a lemon pie. Bob got me tea, but he got sweet tea and I had to cut it with lemonade in order to drink it. I thought the green beans were a bit salty, and the chicken was spicy. The lemon pie was very good.
Bob got chicken strips and fries and a drink. He accidentally got himself soda water instead of sprite and ended up getting coke. The total was under $13.00 Leave a Comment

There aren't many restaurnats besides fast food in Talladega, it's a little town, and none between Talladega and Birmingham, minimal between Talladega and Atlanta. Best bet for food if you're staying there is Birmingham and Atlanta. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Down home feeling. Has great food, everything catfish shrimp, hamburger steak, salads, chili, all made fresh when you order. Breakfast and lunch 6 am til 2 pm.

We ate at one of the two Mexican restaurants in Talledaga. They had menus available in Braille - there is a school for the blind near here. They advertise authentic Mexican food, a lunch buffet, and daily dinner specials.
Currently websites say the name is Buenavista
Bob had an enchilada dinner with rice and beans, and I had Fajita Quesadilla ($6.25) and a fried ice cream. I decided to try and eat lunch at the Old Mill Restaurant outside of Talladega. It was in a very small settlement called Waldo, without even a post office.
We saw one of those portable signs with an arrow but no text on it, and thought that might be the Old Mill Restaurant, but drove by without going in, and now found ourselves in the Talladaga Forest where there was no place to turn off.
Eventually, we found a place to turn and went back to the Old Mill Restaurant and parked. Signs said "No Fishing, No Hunting, No Pets Allowed Outside the Car, Cars Left Unattended Will Be Towed Away". Outside was a bird feeder that had a sign on it that said it was the "Old Mill Fly-Through Restaurant" (photo 3).
The restaurant was still decorated for Xmas and they seemed a little disorganized. It took them about half an hour to bring our food and the lady that took our order wandered off and was answering the phone, so the food was brought by someone who might have been the cook.
Bob had a hamburger for $5.39, and I had a Pattie Melt for $5.98. Then I had a chocolate nut pie for $2.75, which was sort of like a pecan pie only with fudge for filling instead of the gooey stuff that's in pecan pie. The pie was very good and I liked it much better than I like pecan pie because I don't care much for pecan pie filling.
