Mobile/Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area's
Traveling to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach is very convenient. Most major airlines service local area airports and are within a short driving distance via Interstates 10 & 65 and Highway 98.
Generally flying into Pensacola or Mobile airports are the best suggestions. Then pick up a rental car and drive to Gulf Shores area. There are two local airports for those that fly small planes.

Automobile to see the real beauty of the state. If you're in a hurry there's several airports throughout the state.

The public transporation in Birmingham is terrible. Just pay for a taxi if you need to get somewhere. The buses don't have real schedules it seems, because I waited 2 hours for one that never came that was supposed to come every hour. When I called in to the number on the board, I was told it would be there in 5 minutes. I waited another 30 minutes after that. Theme: Bus
