Birmingham Public Transportation

by ArenJo

The public transporation in Birmingham is terrible. Just pay for a taxi if you need to get somewhere. The buses don't have real schedules it seems, because I waited 2 hours for one that never came that was supposed to come every hour. When I called in to the number on the board, I was told it would be there in 5 minutes. I waited another 30 minutes after that.

Mobile/Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area'sTraveling to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach is very convenient. Most major airlines service local area airports and are within a short driving distance via Interstates 10 & 65 and Highway 98. Generally flying into Pensacola or Mobile airports are the best suggestions. Then pick up a rental car and drive to Gulf Shores area. There are two local airports for those that fly small planes.Mobile/Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area'sAir TravelMobile Regional Airportwww.mobairport.com 334-633-0313 Pensacola Regional Airportwww.flypensacola.com 850-435-1746 Jack Edwards Airport—Gulf Shoreswww.jackedwards.com 334-968-6380 Foley Municipal Airport 334-943-5214 Ground Transportation Baldwin Rural Area Transportation System (BRATS) 334-947-2728 Luxury Limo, LLC 334-968-6994 Mobile Bay Transportation Co., Inc.(airport shuttle) 334-981-1988 Orange Beach Trolley—Route...

The best way to get around...

by Venturingnow

The best way to get around rural Alabama (cities too) is to rent a car with a convertable top and cruise with it down along the vast empty fields with to warm summer sun gleaming down on you. Wonderful!

Rent a Car!

by RhondaRuth

It's a large state and a lot to see, so if you want to get around and you have flown in from out of State, I suggest you rent a car.
