The trip to and from Anaktuvuk Pass, through the Brooks mountain range, is absolutely fantastic! I don't really care for small planes, but this was great. You could literally reach out and touch the mountain peaks and the valleys were some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I may never get a chance to go back, but my memories will last forever.

There are regularly scheduled flights from Fairbanks to Anaktuvuk Pass. I believe they are daily in the summer. In the winter, air service is limited and you can only get in and out via dogsled or argo.
Walking is the best. Argos and conventional cars, trucks and vans are also present in town. An argo is an eight wheeled vehicle that looks like a cross between a tank and a convertible!

In this tundra environment, the easiest way is to travel by the argos which is what the local eskimos use for transportation.
