Favorite thing: See Anchorage & surroundings from the aeroplane.
Fondest memory: When you are landing at the Anchorage airport during daytime, do look out the aeroplane window and enjoy the really fantastic view of nature at it's best ! You can see the snow capped Chugach mountains, the vast plains, the waters of the Knik and Turnagain arms and even as far as the snow capped Alaska Range and the Talkeetna mountains. Fantastic view, and too bad I did not take any photographs. Very good first impression of my visit to Alaska indeed !

Fondest memory: Frankly, I'm not exactly sure what these mountains are called.
But anyhow, I've this weakness for mountains.
It's a place where everytime I'm on them or above them, I feel I'm very tiny & yet in a world of possibilities.
It's hard to explain... it's just a feeling.
Feelings may not be rational, but they are something which we as humans inherited as our birthright.
For me, mountains move literally...

Favorite thing: It had been a looooooong day...
I had left Buenos Aires the night before on the flight to Miami (an 8-hr flight overnight flight). Reaching Miami in early morning around 4.30 am was no fun. There was no place I could go on my own. I was hoping to go to the beach but after talking to some at the airport, I decided not to. Miami is not the safest city in America. The beach would be isolated at 5 am & the weather wasn't suitable for a walk either.
So, was very glad when it's time to leave for Houston.
Houston is a commercial city like many in the States. I'll talk more about it later in my Houston page.
Arrived in L.A. almost midnight & checked into Radisson LAX for a 6 hour sleep.
Woke up early & head for airport for my flight to Anchorage via Seattle the next day.
So, early morning, I boarded Alaska Airlines & off I went to Anchorage. By the time I got into Anchorage, it's almost 3pm. It felt like I had been on an ultra long journey. Not to forget I've been in Antarctica for almost 2 weeks! This is the final leg of the trip... Antarctica >>> Arctic.
Fondest memory: Upon arriving at Anchorage, we were greeted by this gorgeous vistas... ahhhhh, those mountains, so very like those I've left behind in the South Pole & yet so very different!
There's life here...
I was excited.
I usually am on a plane, especially when I see what's out there!
The most incredible & unexpected sights!

Favorite thing: As many people have built their homes in the Chugach mountain range, many great view of the city can be found by simply driving residential streets up for a while. There are a good number of turn outs for photo opportunities. The "best chance" drive for a great view is to either get off the Seward Highway at Potters Creek, or take Abbot Road east, which will take you straight up into the mountains. This view on your left is from Skyline Drive in Eagle River looking out onto the Glenn Highway and the city of Anchorage.

Favorite thing: One of my fondest memory is the distance view of Mount Susitna, also known as the "Sleeping Lady" as seen from the shorelines of Anchorage.
