I was here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, everything we tried was really good. Service was really good.
The beers are great here, but do not ignore the wines. The wines are made around the corner at their sister restaurant.
Glacier Brewhouse has been a huge success from the day they opened 10 years ago. A very large restaurant, it is always packed, especially on weekends. A large selection to choose from the menu - from burgers to steaks to fine dining. They brew their own beer right on the premises. Call ahead for reservations and be prepared to wait a bit at the bar.
High lofty ceilings and a large fireplace in the center of the room.
A local tip - if there is a long wait for a table just eat over at the bar - usually no waiting.
Favorite Dish: Baby back ribs with all the trimmings.
A recent trip (June-2012) had a burger. Devine. Home brewed root beer - excellent.
Glacier Brewhouse is one of my favorite places to eat ANYWHERE. The food is excellent, and they brew the best beer in Alaska. It is right down town, and boasts a very comfortable restaurant/lounge. Expect it to be busy, it always is, but you'll be glad you went.
Favorite Dish: The menu is in constant evolution. Their pizza is wonderful, they have fantastic salads, but all in all the one thing that I always have when I go to the the Glacier Brewhouse is their hefeweisen beer.
Well I used to work here, so my opinion may be biased; I ate here, sometimes, 6 days a week and never tired of it. However, thousands agree the food is delicious.

Pepper crusted tuna filet, with beansprout kimchee slaw, wasabi aioli, red curry oil, sticky rice and sesame lavosh. Served rare.

Alderwood grilled Alaskan salmon, pepper bacon, beeef steak tomato, romaine hearts, basil aioli on house-made focaccia bread.
WORLD FAMOUS BREAD PUDDING 6.50
Classic apple and currant bread pudding, wood oven roasted. Topped with caramelized pecans and Yukon Jack sauce.
ALASKA SEAFOOD CHOWDER CUP 4.95 BOWL 6.50
Fresh Alaskan seafood, roasted corn, shaved fennel, bell peppers, slowly simmered in a rich crab broth. Finished with cream and dry sherry.
JAMBALAYA FETTUCINE 16.95
Pan seared chicken, andoullie sausage, warm water shrimp, tossed with a spicy mamou sauce.

Strip loin steak marinated in garlic infused peanut oil, stone ground mustard crust, oatmeal stout demi glace, and blue cheese mash potatoes.

Fresh Dangerous Cape Halibut, BrewHouse ale battered.
BACON BURGER 8.95
Fresh ground chuck steak, smoked bacon, Tillamook cheddar cheese, wood grilled onions, beef steak tomatoes, and shaved lettuce.
Tender calamari strips seasoned with garlic and black pepper, fried and served with jalapeno aioli.
PEANUT BUTTER PIE 5.95
Chocolate cookie crust, creamy peanut butter center, chocolate genache, topped with homemade peanut brittle.

Traditional vanilla custard, candied sugar top and fresh strawberries.
To add: check out the fine selection of homemade beer. I used to get drink, but not anymore. Use caution with the XXX beers.
This is a really busy place so expect to wait for a while before you get a table. We took a buzzer and grabbed a drink at the bar. You could get tables more easily in the bar section but we preferred to wait for a decent table in the restaurant.
The menu itself whilst looking good seemed a bit varied, but I suppose this was looking at try to please all the cruise line passengers. You could get a decent steak, fish, pasta or pizza.
The beer selection was also very good, I went for the Brewhouse Blonde which was a decent lager and then onto the Indian Pale Ale, which was a nice pint. Nic went for the Raspberry Wheat, a fruity little number.
Definitely worth a visit!
Favorite Dish: Had the Calamari to start followed by the huge Rib eye steak and Crab legs.
Bread and butter pudding to share for desert.
We hit the Glacier Brewhouse on our first night in Alaska, and it was above average. I had salmon and she had a steak. We were both happy, but the prices were a bit high. My girlfriend had some of the Brewhouse's beers, and she was very pleased with those. Overall the service was good (the place was absolutely packed, as it was Saturday night), the food was good, and the atmosphere was above average, as were the prices. The crowd was mostly middle aged or older people, and many couples.
Favorite Dish: All I had was the salmon, which was of course very fresh, but was definately not the best salmon I had during our trip to Alaska.
Though this seemed to remind me of an average brewpub we have in Dallas called Two Rows, I found it quite enjoyable. After getting over the initial comparisons, the food was pretty good, but a bit too expensive. The best that the Glacier Brewhouse has to offer are their beers. Don't bother with the pricey food, but down a few pints at the bar.
This place is huge in every sense of the word, and jam-packed virtually every night so reservations are a must. The fireplace looks great, but the tables near it can get a little warmish for Alaskans...people from elswhere with thinner blood may not be bothered. The kitchen is open to view and mouth-watering dishes appear like magic.
The high wooden-quonset like ceiling bounces noise, so this is not a place for a quiet dinner.
Favorite Dish: It's hard to choose a favorite-the Halibut is always terrific and the Caesar with salmon is to die for. The single pizzas are delicious and you can't go wrong with their beef dishes.
Be sure to try the Amber ale...some of the best. And for dessert there's a rum soaked breead pudding big enough for 4.....
Glacier Brew House has been named by Travelocity as one of the ten best restaurants in Alaska, and with just one visit there you will see why. I was fortunate to meet Anchorage VT member "Extremist, " whose downtown office is just across the street from the Anchorage International Hostel, and she was kind enough to take her lunch break to show me around. The restaurant was a short walk from the hostel. The Glacier Brewhouse is large, modern, very nicely appointed, and we found it bustling with the local downtown lunch crowd.
A special bonus is that we got our lunch for free. I was enjoying my conversation with Extremist/Patty so much that I didn't even notice the server took a long time to bring our meal. The manager of the restaurant stopped by our table, apologized for the delay, and said our lunch was on the house. Honestly, I don't think it was all that late, but these folks sure aim to please. They will definitely get my business again the next time I am in Anchorage.
Favorite Dish: I had the Salmon BLT: Alderwood grilled Alaskan salmon, pepper bacon, beefsteak tomato, romaine hearts, basil aioli on homemade focaccia bread. It was a choice that would have been hard to beat.
This was my favorite place in Anchorage to have a farewell dinner and drink with my tour groups. It's not too expensive and there's a good atmosphere, good food, and good beer! :-) This photo is of the Dragoman group I traveled with in June 2001 - Rob, Ian, Sally, Tove, Sylvi, Me, and Annie. I picked up this group in Arizona and spent 6 weeks traveling with them to Alaska. Some, including Rob, Tove, and Annie traveled with Dragoman for over 6 months coming from Patagonia through South and Central America!
This place has a good selection of handcrafted brews and delicious food!

This place is too trendy for my tastes, with big prices for pretty good food. But if you are into that kind of thing, . . Yuppies, dive right in.
Favorite Dish: Horseradish and mustard Salmon. $22.50. The salmon are Copper River Reds, a very good eating fish.
My Dad brought me here during my latest visit, and I'm pretty sure that it wasn't here in 2003.
Favorite Dish: I'm quite impressed with the WeisenBeer ! I didn't eat here, but the beer was great!
