This is a restaurant/brewery combination restaurant. We went for the brewery part of it. It's really a nice place overlooking the Port of Anchorage with mulitple levels and in the summer, outside seating at the top. It's open all year and in the afternoon, it's quite empty. The dining area doesn't opening until 4pm or so, but the pub is so you can just head up there and set yourself. While the menu is large with food ranging from Alaska seafood to pizzas, the beer list is even larger. They brew their own on site, each with information about the taste, the color and the amount of alcohol. If you don't drink they even brew their own root beer. The atmosphere is enough reason to come here. It's locally owned and very nicely decorated. Add the view and it's the total package for restaurants by my standands
Favorite Dish:
Like I said, we were more here for the beer experience so all we ordered to eat were buffalo tenders. Well, that's not really the only reason we ordered that--it's a little expensive and if you're planning on sampling the beer, it's possible you could spend quite a bit of money. However, this appetizer was enough food for the both of us and so far, the best buffalo sauce we've had in Anchorage. My beer was on the darker side and really very good. Bobby got a golden ale which he also liked. They have so many beers to choose from though--not just the local ones, either. They feature Belgian beer (and a lot of it) and lots of mixed drinks.
I was thrilled by the childrens menu! Absolutely guarenteed to please. Kraft Macaroni and Cheese! Corn dogs! and Oreo Cookies! $5.95. But, and this is the odd part, the upstairs is a cigar friendly bar. So your kids will eat, but it does smell like cigars.
Favorite Dish:
Daniel recommends the Chicken Tenders, but it is hard to beat Kraft Mac and Cheese or Corn Dogs. The adult menu ranges from $10 for sandwhiches to $20 for entrees.
Quilts in a brew pub. That's a new one. This is a photo of one of the quilts hanging in Snow Goose. Handmade quilts seemed to be a big deal in Alaska. This wasn't the only place where we came across fabulous quilts. We saw them in Homer, too.
This quilt depicts a number of different Alaskan themes. I was pretty impressed - I could never sit still enough to put one of these things together. This takes real talent and patience!
Snow Goose has food that is edible enough. Sandwiches, pasta, salads, that sort of thing. It's a big place so there is no problem getting a table. What I liked best about the restaurant was not a favorite dish, but the handmade quilts hanging on the walls depicting Alaska scenes and themes.
Very good selection of beer and good food. First floor dining with nice casual atmosphere and glass enclosed brewery. Upstairs bar with outdoor patio and views of the Port of Anchorage.
Favorite Dish:
Burgers, steaks, seafood, pizzas, etc
Decent pub grub in downtown Anchorage. Went with a group for a business meal. I had the fish tacos which were excellent. The King Crab was also good. Steamed clams also decent.
Nice view looking north over the port although a bit open and noisy.
With so many excellent choices for good restaurants I'm not sure how soon I'll go back.
Dad & I came here for a weeknight meal, I had a special dish: Smoked Salmon Fetticini.
Favorite Dish:
Well, they also brew their own beer here.
