There are also King Salmon stamp requirements but if you are not going to a King Salmon River don't buy one! It is a waste of money.

Beware that the road from Dead Man's Curve to the airport can be quite foggy in the early morning hours. And in the winter months the road can also have "Black Ice" that is ice that you cannot see and is the cause of so many accidents on the Chiniak Highway!! Quite often it will be sunny in town but as soon as you go around Dead Man's curve the weather can be completely different!! Something to do with the mountains in the area!! Several deaths in the past few years have happened in this 2 mile stretch of road!!!

At areas where there are people and bears you might see a sign similar to this one. It means that there has been a Kodiak Brown Bear spotted in the area recently so be especially vigilant. Keep a clean camp and make noise if you are walking in the forest!!

If you enlarge the photo you'll see my son's hands are frozen!! When you stand out on the river for several hours in the pouring rain with the wind blowing 30-40 MPH you can get quite cold without even realizing that you're getting cold. We stayed out fishing too long on this particular night. But we could see lot's of salmon and they wouldn't bite!!

If you are going to be hiking or fishing in the denser upper river areas beware that the Kodiak Brown Bear can be spotted anywhere along the river. With the sounds of the river drowning out any sounds that you or a bear might be making, neither one of you may hear each other until it is too late!! So just be very BEAR AWARE!!

Well that is an old wives tale that has been passed through the generations ..at least in my family.....well it worked for a couple of years with my son but when he realized that after playing in the fire he didn't pee in the bed he didn't believe me anymore....so now he loves to burn stuff in the fire.

Well this isn't a danger but I needed to put this somewhere...You will see lot's of Crane Flies at the Buskin River area. They look like a large mosquito but they don't feed so you won't have to worry about getting bit by them although they look quite menacing!

The cloud that looks like blowing dust is not blowing dust! It is a fresh hatch of some sort of flying insect...I don't really know the name of them...hahaha we just call them noseums (No see them) as they are very small and can crawl through a very small mesh and get in your eyes , nose and ears!! They can drive a person insane!! hahaha
