Great for last minute, or in-a-hurry, meals! For those that are 'picky' eaters, they also offer some "American food."

Collegetown Pizza, Thai, Alaska Coffee Roasting Company, The Chowder House, Hot Licks Ice Cream, The Athenian All of these except the coffee house and hot licks are closed on sundays, so if you are out then, try something else, Senor Flannagen's steak pit is great for steaks, and their fried ice cream, and the upstairs cafe in Gulliver's bookstore has wholesome food and a great atmosphere.
Collegetown- Lots of original pizzas, the best in town, try the Aegean for me, and indulge in a pitcher of Henry Weinhart's rootbeer. Thai- The Thai House or The Lemongrass, or any other thai place in town. Fairbanks is an unlikely Thai food hub. you can't go wrong. Coffee Roasters- Best Coffee. Period. This place has won national awards, fresh beans, good atmosphere, try the Dante, it's everyone's favorite. Chowder House- Classic Alaskan Chowders, Good build-your-own sandwiches, and shakes and desserts that are to die for. Hot Licks- Fresh homemade icecream, great fresh waffle cones... lots of wonderful flavors. open late, but closed in winter. The Athenian- New Greek place *drool* soo good. It's a nice place (not cheap) but worth it. Only problem, it's too small, and pretty popular, so if you want to go on a weekend, get reservations. Sam's Sourdough Cafe. Best breakfast anywhere. Good coffee and your cup never gets to half before its full again. The same waitresses have been here for years. They aren't afraid to talk about it either.

Fairbanks has a lot more than I had originally expected when I first arrived. They have the usual chain restaurants such as McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Popeyes, Sobiks, Denny's, etc. But they have awesome restaurants like 'The Turtle Club', 'The Castle', 'The Pumphouse' which Fairbanks is famous for, and many others. One of my favorites is 'The Food Factory'. Like many of the hometown restaurants the atmosphere is laid back and casual. Almost all of the staff offer great service with a smile and a warm welcome.
Steak and Cheese Sub. A Bucket of beer and french fries on the side. Mmmmm Mmmmmm Goooooood!!!! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Two Locations... South Cushman and College Road. For a small laid back atmosphere try the south Cushman location. But for a newer, busier atmosphere check out the College road location.Other Contact: The pic is of the infamous 'Pump

This is a National Historic Site. It was built in 1931 and 1933 by the Fairbanks Exploration Co. to pump water from the Chena River to dredging operations at Cripple Creek. The pump house was remodeled in 1978 and is now a restaurant and saloon. This restaurant was my fondest memory of Fairbanks. Really good food! YUMMY!
Salmon, among others. Everything here is delicious! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Mile 1.3 on Chena Pump Road in Fairbanks.

The Best pie in Alaska is at Tack's General Store off 'Chena Hot Springs Road' outside of Fairbanks. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Have a stopover at the Malemute Saloon baby! Woohoo! Peanuts on the ground, and live acts on the stage. Check out the pictures. It's right next door to the Cripple Creek Resort. It's wacked, but a funny place to eat.
Good ol' peanuts. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Next door to Cripple Creek Resort

After you go through the line to pick up condiments, cole slaw, jello, and baked beans, you must decide which entree to have. Nevermind deciding, have a little of each. You can always go back for seconds. Then take your food and find a seat under the spruce trees or go inside if you're chilly. The Salmon Bake supplies bus service to many of the local lodgings.

My two favorite restaurants are Pikes and the Chena Pump House. Both offer a really great atmosphere, especially if you visit during the 'off season'. The Sunday Brunch at Pikes is awesome, and in winter you can watch the cars drive up the river to the restaurant! The Pump House is on the National Historic Register...it really was a pump house at one time...the food is great and you can sit outside along the river during the summer months (watch out for the float planes that land nearby!) Pikes is just a really great place. Both restaurants are pricey, but they are worth every penny, in my opinion.
