The Turtle Club is actually up in Fox about nine miles north of Fairbanks. It is a prime rib house with a very good bar. They also sell halibut , shrimp and lobster and have the best salad bar I have ever seen. Its worth it to go there just for the salad bar. You have to get your wallet out when you eat at the Turtle Club, but you get your money's worth. You always go home with a couple of meals worth of GOOD food.
Favorite Dish: I love the prime rib. It comes in several sizes. One for every appetite.

Are you looking for fresh and tastey sushi? Try Osaka in downtown Fairbanks. They do not require a reservation and are very affordable! They offer combination plates as well as large dinners, too!
Favorite Dish: I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed the seaweed salad. I crave it now and then...

Not only do they roast wonderful coffee, but also have some great bakers on staff.
If you arrive about noon, they'll have fresh wood fired pizzas. Muffins, cookies and classic cakes also available.
Yergecheffe, an Ethiopian wild coffee bean is the biggest seller.
Also features art shows
Favorite Dish: cinnamon rolls with nuts and raisins

The menu often revolves around the seasons, it seems, and is always a treat to sample the new dishes from Pistaccio Rack of Lamb, to Calamari Steaks, to the Pumpkin Creme Brulee! There are a wonderful assortment of wines to sample and those are often updated to introduce in the latest award winners! It is very affordable as the meals are served as somewhat large appetizers, but smaller than entrees; they are the perfect portion!
Favorite Dish: Beef Wellington

A warm rustic interior, the pumphouse was the only decent restaurant I found open in Fairbanks during labor day.
The seafood is fresh, the oysters flown in from the North Arctic shores, an incredibly large Alaskan King crab. Everything was excellent. Although relatively expensive, the service, comfort, and charm of this restaurant is well worth it.
You'll leave the pumphouse comfortably stuffed and happy in the cold Alaskan night.
Favorite Dish: The raw oysters and the alaskan king crab.
Excellent beer too.

Soapy Smith's Pioneer Restaurant is an old downtown establishment which has the kind of atmosphere that takes you back to the days of the gold rush era. They feature real home cooking - from scratch. The walls are filled with a pictorial history and memorabilia of early Alaska, which is very interesting to browse through.
Favorite Dish: I ordered the "Homestyle Special of the Day" which was a hot open-faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was good. I would have enjoyed a more generous portion, but then it was only $7.50. Next time I'll try the wonderful looking half pound cheezeburger which I saw on the table beside mine.

My two favorite restaurants are Pikes and the Chena Pump House. Both offer a really great atmosphere, especially if you visit during the 'off season'. The Sunday Brunch at Pikes is awesome, and in winter you can watch the cars drive up the river to the restaurant!
The Pump House is on the National Historic Register...it really was a pump house at one time...the food is great and you can sit outside along the river during the summer months (watch out for the float planes that land nearby!)
Pikes is just a really great place. Both restaurants are pricey, but they are worth every penny, in my opinion.
Favorite Dish: Any fish item!!

Collegetown Pizza, Thai, Alaska Coffee Roasting Company, The Chowder House, Hot Licks Ice Cream, The Athenian
All of these except the coffee house and hot licks are closed on sundays, so if you are out then, try something else, Senor Flannagen's steak pit is great for steaks, and their fried ice cream, and the upstairs cafe in Gulliver's bookstore has wholesome food and a great atmosphere.
Favorite Dish: Collegetown- Lots of original pizzas, the best in town, try the Aegean for me, and indulge in a pitcher of Henry Weinhart's rootbeer.
Thai- The Thai House or The Lemongrass, or any other thai place in town. Fairbanks is an unlikely Thai food hub. you can't go wrong.
Coffee Roasters- Best Coffee. Period. This place has won national awards, fresh beans, good atmosphere, try the Dante, it's everyone's favorite.
Chowder House- Classic Alaskan Chowders, Good build-your-own sandwiches, and shakes and desserts that are to die for.
Hot Licks- Fresh homemade icecream, great fresh waffle cones... lots of wonderful flavors. open late, but closed in winter.
The Athenian- New Greek place *drool* soo good. It's a nice place (not cheap) but worth it. Only problem, it's too small, and pretty popular, so if you want to go on a weekend, get reservations.
