Aloha from Alaska by kaloz Aloha Alaska seerves espresso, has a deli, and sells gifts. The gift shop is to the right as you enter and features many local crafts including the blown glass of the owner Darby. The displays are ever changing.
I didn't buy anything, but I am not a shopper, so don't go by that. Leave a Comment Theme: Local CraftAddress: 43 Hightower RdPhone: 907-783-2134Other Contact: megandrb@gci.net

The Merchantile by kaloz If you want a snack and don't want to pay resort prices, or if you need other notions, stop by the Crow Creek Merchantile. This is the town market.
I like to get some fruit, but you might prefer potato chips, and don't forget ice cream! Yummy. The mechantile is the town market, and carries a wide variety of goods for everyday use as well as some gifts.
The prices here are probably not as cheap as home, but less than at the resort. Leave a Comment

Girdwood in Summer by kaloz Connie and Chris run the Great Alaskan Tourist Trap located just off the Seward Highway near the old townsite of Girdwood. The shop is much nicer than most of the stores hawking tourist pap in Anchorage and Connie is much friendlier. Chris also guides tours of the area.
Support Girdwood's Glacier City Radio buy buying a t-shirt, and tune in to KEUL 88.9 FM in Girdwood. You never know what you will hear. They have a nice assortment of gifts to choose from. Send me a postcard by kaloz People love to get postcards, just post a forum on VT asking who wants one and you'll find out. Take the time to show you are thinking of friends and send lots of them. You can buy stamps and mail your postcards at the Post Office. Girdwood is scheduled to get a new Post Office, so it might not look like it does in this picture. When I got back to work, I found out that they are looking for another person. I'm thinking about it, but I do love Kodiak.
Stamps! The post office is also good if you want to send some of your souveniers home. Especially that ULU you bought in Anchorage. They won't let you on a plane with that thing. So lighten your load, and mail the goods home. And since you've been buying Alaska themed clothing, mail your dirty laundry also, just put it in a plastic bag first (haha).
Postcard stamps are 23 cents, and letter stamps 37 cents. For other rates, visit the web site. Leave a Comment Theme: HobbiesAddress: Girdwood Alaska 99587Phone: 907-783-2922Website: www.usps.com

Stuff for the Mountain by kaloz World Cup Alaska is for the winter outdoor enthusiast, and carries skis, boards, poles, bindings, boots, clothing, and anything you could think of having to do with sliding down a mountain, on some wood. Since I am not a skier or boarder, I could be exaggerating, but the shop was packed with stuff. Leave a Comment Theme: Sporting GoodsAddress: P.O.
