Solo Parasailing by RickinDutch Available through the concierge at the Alyeska Prince Hotel or direcet with Alaska Paragliding, this looks like a great activity. I had some friends decide to do this at the last minute while we were attending a reception at Seven Glaciers. Yes, alcohol was involved! The safety briefing and waiver signing takes long enough that you're almost sober though. You don't really jump off a cliff, it is more like a fast sprint down a fairly steep slope. Usually runs $185, but they paid $100 each as it was a last minute thing. They both raved about the experience for days afterwards. Really was a great ride down the mountain and they have never killed anyone - so they say.
All gear is provided - wing, helmet, harness, parachute. Just bring some gumption. Leave a Comment Theme: Extreme SportsPhone: 907-301-1215Directions: Alyeska ResortWebsite: alaskaparagliding.com

Snow Removal by kaloz Get a job clearing the 782 inches of snow off of the roof of the chalet. You must have mountaineering skills as well as strong arms to shovel. And watch out for those winds! I hope you guys get hazard pay.
Ropes and harness, crampons, snow shovel and clothing that you can work in without getting overheated. The link below is a direct link to the snow conditions on the mountain. Leave a Comment

The Bowl by kaloz In the summer, you can para-sail off of Mt Alyeska. This is the coolest way to get off the mountain. Don't worry if you have never done this before. You ride piggy-backed with a guide who does the driving, you just enjoy the experience.
Equipment is provided by the guide. All you need is nerves of steel. Leave a Comment Theme: Extreme SportsAddress: 1000 Arlberg Ave, Girdwood, AK 99587Phone: 1-800-880-3880Website: www.alyeskaresort.com

Hiking on Mt. Alyeska by mcpangie Mt. Alyeska is a good hike for an afternoon of fun in Girdwood. The best part is, if you make it up to the top, the personnel at the Alyeska Ski Resort will feel sorry for you and let you down the tram for free! At least they did the summer I hiked up the mountainside.
The "path" we chose wasn't a path. We were cutting through brush, so make sure to wear sturdy boots. The mountainside is mostly groomed due to being a ski resort, so it's a climb that needs little equipment. Keep in mind that the mountain can have snow up top fairly late into the summer, so the higher you go the more layers you may need. As you can see from my picture, another popular sporting activity from the top of Mt. Alyeska down is para-sailing. I’ve never done that, just watched them run and take these leaps into the air. So, if you're so inclined, bring your para-sailing thing.
