Pizzeria Roma: Above average pizza and price
This place has some pretty unusual types of pizza. Ones with capers and feta cheese etc. The crust is crisp so if you don't like that don't bother. The sauce is really good. The service in here has never impressed me. Seems they're always too busy to help you. The restaurant is small and they just have plastic table cloths. Nothing fancy here. Prices are a little on the high side for pizza but I guess since the quality is a little better than Dominoes they can justify it.
Pizza Verona: Good Gyros at an Italian restaurant?
Yup, they have some greek food mixed in with the Italian at this place downtown. They're pretty good too. I think the Italian food is good as well and they make good pizza. Only drawbacks are that the decor is somewhat bland and they use plastic tablecloths. Not exactly upscale. Also, since this is one of the closest restaurants to the cruise ships, it can get pretty packed at times and service can be slow. Overall though a pretty good value. Main entrees come with garlic bread, salad, and a plate of spaghetti.
Favorite Dish: Veal parmigiana is my favorite but you really can't go wrong here.
Gold Room: Way, way over priced!
This place is the most inflated priced food in town. They cater to upscale tourists and business people. The food is really only average but you can find okay steaks and seafood. Occasionally they have special international cuisine nights. I know recently they offered a Morroccan night with belly dancing for $40. If you want local Alaskan food for less money go to Doc Waters or Twisted Fish.
The Udder Culture: Udderly delicious!
I put this in the local category even though The Udder Culter sounds like just ice cream. They actually make frozen yogurt, sandwiches and soups. All of the sandwiches are less than $6 and are quite tasty. You can chose many different combinations to get the sandwich you want. You can also call ahead and pick it up.
Favorite Dish: Pastrami is great but that's just my choice.

Red Dog Saloon, Cookhouse Restaurant: Not Just For Tourists!
Well for you omnivores and carnivores they have huge burgers and steaks. For the pescetarians there are seafood, salads, and more. Yet, I am not sure about the fare for vegetarians.
There is sawdust on the floor in the summer, but not in the winter. This is a tourist trap in the summer, yet slow and sane during the winter. Well, downtown Juneau is a "Disneyland" during the summer
Favorite Dish: I did not eat, but did enjoy Sierra Pale Ale on tap for somewhat high prices.
Red Dog Saloon: Heard Rave Reviews about Red Dog Saloon
Sawdust on floors, old west saloon swinging doors. Very popular and crowded. Have heard great reviews and I have to remember to stop by when I'm in juneau
Favorite Dish: Have not eaten there, but I will edit this when I do
