you can only get to juneau by boat or plane - alaska airlines has a monopoly in juneau. you'll see wildlife if you take the ferry but it will take some time.
taxis are extremely expensive in juneau and i've met quite a few drivers and none were likable.

You can get around by taxi or a rented car, but there are humdreds of miles of trails in Juneau and a suggestion is to get around by bicycle. I may warn you that Juneau is the second largest city(in square miles) in the U.S.

I flew in an 8-seater from Whitehorse, Yukon, not knowing at the time that Juneau airport experiences very strong X-winds....
Lack of road traffic means that Juneau is an RV-free zone.
Walking is the only way to see the town, but for trips out to the glacier (about 6 miles), the cab fare is worthwhile as the drivers are very knowledgable.

At my first trip in Summer 96 I came by ferry (very nice) and left by a small Airplane to Skagway which was wonderful too. If you have a chance to take a small float plane or air plane take it, it is unforgettable.
- On my second trip to Juneau which was in January '97 I came by plane and left by plane.
The best way to get around is walking.
There is also a bus to the Northern part of the city.
