    Annabelle's Keg & Chowder House - Ketchikan

Annabelle's is actually two places in one. One side has a unique & massive, carved wooden bar, wood floor and mirrors from the earlier part of the 20th century. The bar is very long with brass rails and flanked by numerous chairs and tables set up for a meal or an order from the bar.

The other side is a more refined restaurant setting with tableclothes, fine furniture, and antique lighting where locals as well as tours enjoy a mid-day meal or dinner. The whole effect is very cosy and the service is friendly. I particularly like the fact that I was able to take a menu from Annabelle's which is printed like an old newspaper from 1927. Souvenir pint glasses, t-shirts and other items can also be purchased there as a souvenir of your visit. Since I collect matches from everywhere I travel, it was nice to find Annabelle's had them with "Annabelle's" picture on the cover. A small thing, but it made me happy.

    Open 11:00 am to 10:00pm

Favorite Dish: We tried the local beers here--Alaskan Amber Ale, etc., However, had I been hungry, I would have tried the massive King Crab legs which I saw another diner attempting to tame! (This dish would cost about $35.00 and is probably the most expensive thing on the menu.)

This restaurant is not inexpensive, but of course, you're really paying for the old-days atmosphere and antiques. They do have a sizable seafood menu featuring crab, salmon, shrimp halibut ,etc. You will also find chicken dishes, wraps and a couple of pasta dishes. A bowl of Alaska Seafood Chowder with salmon, halibut, shrimp and scallops was $7.99. Beer Batter Halibut & Chips, with soup, salad or french fries was $13.99. A Seafood Stir Fry with Alaska salmon, halibut, scallops and shrimp with veggies, rice & bread was $19.99 A little easier on the budget were salads such as Oriental chicken, chicken fajita, or crab/ shrimp louie salads, all $10.99. These prices are from 2004.

Annabelle's Famous Keg and Chowder House
Excellent seafood and seating in the 'parlor.' The parlor will remind you of some old Chicago hang-out or some such thing. Anywho, this is supposedly enjoyed by both locals and tourists alike, but it is kind of pricey, but then, everything in Alaska seemed to be pricey.

    Favorite Dish: seafood
