This place and Henry's are my two favorite restaurants in Kodiak (so far). This place combines great sushi with nice decor (a converted powerhouse), and a location right on the water. The owner and sushimi expert, Tom-san, has another restaurant in Louisiana and has regular visitors from the bayou who come in to eat what they say is the best sushi anywhere and to take some verbal abuse from Bob-san in the process.
I don't want to gush too much. Just trust me - if you like sushi try this place. If you don't they have good steaks and other cooked food as well that my wife raved about.
Favorite Dish: The Kodiak Roll and some spicey tuna rolls. Top off with a beer and watch the fishing boats sail by out the large windows. A perfect evening.

King's Diner is a local favorite for breakfast. Large diner style with big windows looking over at Lily Lake, the in-town float plane lake. Big servings, friendly staff and just plain tasty. My first trip to Kodiak I asked the front desk at the Comfort Inn where the best spot for breakfasts were and he directed me here. Keep going back.
Favorite Dish: Breakfast burrito - an omelete wrapped in a flour tortilla.

It's a small place with all sorts of antiques with a great atmosphere and the owner "Val" makes a person feel right at home. The quality of the food and service has to be at least a 4 Star place.
If you drink, they have every kind of hard liquor to the popular import beers as well as all the USA made beers.
Big BBQ pit out back with plenty of seating and parking. And the view of the mountains in the back is simply breathtaking.
You want to play darts, or pool that is available also.
It's a real "Down Home" business.
Favorite Dish: They are all Great!

This is a great find.
It's not haute cuisine - it's just good basic cooking.
It is a cafe with hard tables and good food.
Favorite Dish: The Halibut was very fresh - firm and white and fried to perfection.
It came with fries and I added some coleslaw (would recommend that too).
The batter was crisp and not soggy or greasy.
Mouth is watering just remembering it.

One of the few reasonable breakfast nooks, the Shelikof also has a good lunch menu, and dinner. Nothing fancy, and a lot of locals frequent the dining room
Favorite Dish: The Reindeer Sausage and Cheese Burger is pretty tasty, if hard to get your mouth around. For Dinner, I like the Chicken Pasta.

Well this isn't a restaurant but you can get some Locally caught Tanner Crab (in season) and cook it your self for a tasty dinner. We just ate these last night! (12/13/02)
