Small stand of trees on the bluff

    Lonely trees

Here you can see our shadows along the line and the stand of trees that seem so lonely as there aren't any other trees on the bluff except this hearty group. They take a major beating from the winter storms!
Near these trees there were 4 or 5 Bald Eagles that were soaring and enjoying the high winds! I couldn't manage to get a photo of them but they got close enough on some their passes that we could hear the wind passing through their feathers!! That was pretty awesome!!

    ???

This is another photo that I took at a different bunker and I had a strange "light" show up on the photo too. There wasn't any other light source inside so I'm still trying to figure out what it was........I'm gonna bring Shaggy and Scooby Doo if I return!!

    Weird photo........ghost?

    inside a bunker

This photo came out quite weird...I took it while standing in a bunker that was pitch black!! We couldn't see a thing..we made our way along by just feeling the walls and hoping that there weren't any holes in the floor. I took this photo just to use the flash so I could see for an instant where I was. If you enlarge the photo you can see that the door is in focus but the streaks indicate that something has passed in front of the lense...one of my friends suggested that it was a ghost......YIKES!!!

    Buoy Swing

    Buoy Swing

All along the coastal areas of Alaska you will find the Buoy Swing. Sometimes you will be miles from any civilization and still come across a buoy swing. An Alaskan Buoy Swing is generally built like this....Find an area that is on a hill side....climb up a big spruce tree about 40 - 75 feet off off the ground...tie off a piece of line (Firmly) then climb back down then climb back down and find another tree that is 20 - 50 feet from the last one and climb that tree while holding the end of the line. When you get to the same height as the other one tie off your line firmly while pulling the line fairly tight. Climb back down and get another line that will be thrown over the top of the tight line and tied onto that line...now climb back down and pull the line hanging down to the center of the two trees. No it's time to attach your Buoy....generally these are found floating along the many beaches...they have broke off from the local crab pots.....Now it's time to have fun....Pull the buoy as far up the hill as you can...usually with the help of one or two other people....Now jump onto the buoy and hold on tight!!!! YEeee Yaaaaaaaaa!!!

    Castle Rocks

Castle rocks are a beautiful setting! I'd love to bring my tent out to Long Island sometime and camp on the Bluff overlooking them. For sure I'd be up early to catch the sunrise!!

    Last rays of the day.........

    Golden rays

As we finished up our day of hiking the sun was going down which cast some golden rays that came through the spruce trees onto the dead beach grass. We knew it was time to start heading home!!
