Hoop'n Hula Milk 'N Cookies: My Personal Favorite

by kaloz Updated Apr 4, 2011
    The Hula Queen

Most fair food is disgusting and bad for you, that is why we love it so, but this booth is different. What could be more refreshing than fresh baked cookies and a glass of cold milk? Um-Um. Across from the booth is a hula hoop area, where you can work off those extra fair calories, and have some fun.

Favorite Dish: I had a "Peanut-Buddha" cookie and a glass of whole milk.

Strictly Strawberries: Totally disgusting -- gotta try it!!

by kaloz Updated Apr 4, 2011
    Kristen eats the Twinkee!

Deep-fried Twinkies! Ugh!! Fair food at it's disgusting best (worst). Who thought of this idea? They are greasy and the cream filling liquifies and squirts out all over your hand and down your shirt-front if you are not careful. Can you feel your arteries hardening? So go on, try it, what have you got to lose? certainly not on any diet I've heard of (haha).

    Favorite Dish: Deep-fried Twinkies!!
Actually this booth serves Strawberries: Dipped in chocolate, covering shortcake, smothered in whipped cream, or swirled into frothy shakes. So if you wimp out on the twinkies, you have some choices.

T.D. Enterprises: The Good Old American Hot Dog?????

by kaloz Updated Apr 4, 2011
    Hot Dogs gone Wild!!

Spicy reindeer polish dogs, buffalo bratwurst, hot dogs, jalapeno cheese dogs and caribou steak sandwiches, see what's happened to this American classic. Who can resist the good old Hot-Dog while at the State Fair. These Alaskan twists on our fair favorite are downright delicious!! The meat in these is a tad healthier than the usual, so if you are health conscience, this is a good alternative.

Favorite Dish: Bison-Brat! The American Buffalo (Bison) is low in fat, so you wouldn't think this would be that tasty, but it is great!!

T & T Refreshments: Forget Energy Bars -- This is the State Fair

by kaloz Updated Apr 4, 2011
Food that will color your hair

Forget Energy Bars -- This is the State Fair, caramel apples and cotton candy provide an excellent sugar rush that the kids will love.
The fair takes a long time to enjoy, and sometimes the kids need that extra jolt that only sugar can provide.

Favorite Dish: Caramel apples and cotton candy! Come on, I know you secretly crave this awesome junk food. Get the Apple if you don't want to feel guilty.

Becky's Kettle Korn, Hawaiian Shaved Ice: Snacks for the ride home

by kaloz Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Diane enjoys the Fair

Puffy, white kernels covered with a sweet-salty splash / Cones filled with shaved ice, plenty of yummy flavors to chose from.
This is two tips in one. At Becky's you get a whole lot of Kettle Corn, so save this stop for last, as you will need time to eat all of that bag o' corn. Wash it down with another fair favorite, shaved ice (formerly known as "sno-cones")

Favorite Dish: Sno-Cones and Kettle Corn. This bag of Corn will satisfy you all the way home, and then some. This is one big bag of corn.

  • The Noisy Goose: Great Place to grab a bite!

    by tia77 Written May 24, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We stopped in here, intending to grab a cup of coffee and get back on the road, but the food looked and smelled so good, we stuck around for breakfast. Two of us split a breakfast plate and it was still very filling. The food was delicious. My fav breakfast is always scram. eggs, toast, hash browns, and bacon, and I have had this meal in many places (you would think it would be hard to screw up these staples, but you would be wrong). This was the best breakfast I have had in a very long time. Every thing was cooked to perfection. The table next to us ordered cinnamon rolls, and they were huge, and we could hear them raving over them as well. There are also many funny signs and statements on the wall, to entertain yourself while you wait for your food. My nephew really enjoyed himself. Highly recommended (although I can't comment on the lunch and dinner selections... they sounded good from the menu.)
