Favorite thing: This old building has been recently refurbished and can be found near Lake Rose Tead. When I first arrived in Kodiak in 1982 it was used by local rancher Joe Zentner as a plane hanger as he landed his plane right on the road. For alot of recent years it appeared abandonded but it is now a working ranch.
Favorite thing: If you are in Kodiak at the end of July through August keep your eyes open for Salmon Berries especially the rarer Russian Salmon Berry. The Russian variety is a Golden Orange which is different than the bright Redness of the normal Salmon Berry.
Favorite thing: This is a Dirt Bridge that has been built at the end of Lake Rose Tead. The left hand side of the road is just a bog and has feeder streams for the salmon to spawn in and the right hand side is the actual lake. In Late August and September you can see Red Salmon spawning right near the road.
Favorite thing: This fog bank was spotted in Women's Bay while I was fishing at the Buskin River. I thought it was quite interesting as it stayed together as one unit as it came across us and looked quite scarey to me at first.
Favorite thing: If you are lucky you may spot on of the many Free Range Buffalo that are owned by local Ranchers. But beware that they are powerful animals. I spotted this one just after sunrise at the Olds River. He was alone and I didn't see another one for the entire morning.
Favorite thing: There aren't many trees in the meadow but I like the way the early morning sun cuts through the branches. It's one of my favorite spots to shoot black and white photos.
Favorite thing: Another shot taken in Kalsin Bay. If you enjoy photography or bird watching this is a good area for you. Sometimes the cloud formations make for some great sunrises.
Fondest memory: This shot is taken near Lake Rose Tead. If you like fog in the morning shots this is a great spot to be at. The fog is usually gone by 8 am though so you've got to get up early.
Favorite thing: The Old's River is a great spot for fishing or just looking at the beauty. You can quite often find Bald Eagles here feeding on Salmon.
Favorite thing: This is an August Sunrise taken from Dead Man's Curve overlooking Women's Bay and the city of Kodiak.
