by junecorlett It is not your typical gift shop. It is also part of a museum and gallery. You can get Alaskan Jade, red and yellow cedar, argillit, beading authentic Tlingit artwork and learn about the indigenous way of life that has existed for hundreds of years. by PA2AKgirl We came across this when we went out to Whitehorse, Yukon. It’s an entire town for sale right off the Alaska Highway. If we had a ton of extra money, we’d buy it and give it to the residents or help make their lives easier. Whatever they want to do with it, they should get the final word. It’s their land. But the question raised with this purchase is: what do you do when you buy a town? I am not sure how that works but you do hear of it every now and again. Northway is located between Tok and the Canadian border but the lady we spoke with while getting coffee told us they never get supplies and always run out of things. A great deal comes with this purchase as you can see from the sign. The asking price? Not bad considering many houses cost more than this here in the US: $680,000.

by Mariajoy It has been so long since I visited this place I can't remember what I bought or how much I spent... probably just a couple of postcards.
It sold all the usual gift shop items - toys, postcards, t-shirts, that kind of thing.
average - to a bit more. Leave a Comment Theme: Local CraftAddress: Seward

Train Depot by kaloz If you want souveniers of the Alaska Railroad, buy them at the Anchorage Depot. The other depots do not have gift shops!
The "Ride Guide" is a must!! It is $5 well spent, as it will make your ride so much more enjoyable. Filled with great information, detailed maps, and historic photos, you will thank me for this tip.

by Lilasel So many interesting and wonderful gifts you can buy in Alaska. There are things I've got: Alaskan Herbal Lip Balm, the Natural Symphony of Alaska (audio with relaxation music and sounds of Alaska wildlife), aromatic candles, photo frames, leather address books and purses, souvenirs from jade (Alaska state dark green gem - you can see walrus from jade at my picture), wooden souvenirs. Bear Paw gift shop by Matyas The gift shop belongs to the RV Park itself. I have no special recommendations or ideas what could be so special in this shop. It's general gift shop with a wide selection (the shop is bigger than it seems from outside). I got everything that i wanted to and the lady was also very kind and helpful. She noticed I was the first Hungarian in her shop hahaa!:) Leave a Comment

MatSu by Matyas What makes it so special? The view hehe! I generally avoid gift shops and crowded places like that but actually it was just a small wooden house. There's nothing special inside beside postcards, small gifts and snack but the view from this place was just spectacular! Located on the Glenn highway. If you are visiting the Matanuska Glacier you cannot miss this small cute shop:)

by OiKnow Alaska has no general sales tax. The price is the price. There is a tourist tax on hotels and such, but general shopping is tax free.

Sunny weather in Valdez by Matyas The prospector is simply a great shop and maybe the only one in Valdez with a with selection and reliable prices. A solid performer, the store is the retail leader in Valdez and is a destination for both residents and visitors alike. The Prospector provides quality clothing and gear for visitors who wish to enjoy the changeable Alaskan weather. They usually make deals for example the third pair of socks / gloves are free, etc. If you need outdoor equipment you'll probably find that as well.
