This restaurant is located in a beautiful building right on the Kenai river. The ambiance in wonderful. The food is worth every penny! I had the most succulent, tender, delicious, prime rib I've ever had at the crossing. The salmon bisque was delicious as well. Everything here was wonderul. The wine list was quite impressive.
I found myself tempted to make the two hour drive from Anchorage to Soldotna a few days ago. It would have been worth the drive. I can't wait to go back!
Favorite Dish: Prime rib & salmon bisque.

*Update 8/18/08. I stopped and had dinner here with friends yesterday evening prior to driving back to Anchorage. Everyone in my group agreed that this was the worst Mexican food we've ever had. Everything was bland and tasteless even after adding lots of salt. The salsa looked and tasted like tomato paste and the chips were burnt. Next time I'm in Soldotna and have a taste for Mexican food I'll try Acapulco's restaurant.*
I was surprised to see a Mexican restaurant in Soldotna. Overall the food was pretty decent. My only complaint would be that the chips and salsa had no flavor whatsoever.
Favorite Dish: The enchiladas were OK. Just OK.

Sal's is a quite a stop!! Lot's of local history on the walls and great food. Sal's is open 24 hours and serves breakfast 24 hours as well. Try the Cinnamon Bun it's about 5 inches tall and 8 inches across. One of our coaches bought one and it looked quite yummy. I had the 2 pieces of Chicken with JoJo's for $7.95. It was quite filling.

You can't beat Dairy Queens Blizzard for a nice snack after a baseball game!! The kids seemed to enjoy them. I think the Blizzard cost about $3.10. Of course Dairy Queen has all kinds of smoothies and floats and sundaes!!

We went to the Golden Dragon for the $7.95 all you can eat buffet. When you are traveling with 12 growing boys it's great to find a place with reasonable prices that offers "ALL YOU CAN EAT"!! All of the kids came away stuffed to the gills. But of course 3 hours later they were all hungry again. hahahaha
Favorite Dish: There was fried rice, steamed rice, several noodle dishes, mongolian beef, a big salad bar,and lot's of other dishes that I don't really know the name of them but I grabbed a bit of just about every thing......oh yeah and there was two kinds of soup too!! All of it was very yummy!!

I thought the walls were interesting to read. I like places that have lots of memorabilia.
The owners of this place have been in Alaska for a long time. But I don't remember that restaurant until more recently.
Favorite Dish: The huge cinamon rolls.

Two Breakfasts for 7.00 USD. I also liked their shakes and french fries. Big menu. Small Town dinner with fun fact sheets at the table. There is a bowling alley in part of the building but it's really small. I like the atmosphere and it's a quick and easy meal that tastes great.
Favorite Dish: Breakfast-- Hashbrowns and eggs.
Snack-- French Fries and Pickles
Good Ice Cream Shakes

Good Mexican food. Quick and easy deli style service. Large tasty amount for a good value.
Favorite Dish: I like the chicken enchiladas, the beans and rice are good too. The tacos and burritos are tasty. Many different meat selections, try the pork.

Although Soldotna looked and felt like a frontier town, this small restaurant on main street had white table cloth, a very pleasant staff and quiet atmosphere.
Favorite Dish: The halibut fish and chips dish tasted so fresh!
