This may look like a little mom and pop fast food joint, but normally those are the best kept secrets. Oldtown burgers serves handmade patties with a variety of styles from classic to southwest. They even put their mini burgers on a hawaiian roll! They hand-cut the curly fries, which are nice and juicy, but you can always opt. for the straight edge style. Did I mention they have fry sauce?
As for their surf selection, they have an amazing fresh halibut taco that has a nice zing to it, with homemade salsa on the side.
They have a selection of fish n chips and fish sandwiches, but it's mostly a burger place; hence the name.
It's a great place with excellent service. I think these people were actually happy.

Mike's Palace offers mostly pizza and Italian foods, along with some surf and turf options. The waiting time for the food is normally over an hour. Never order for pick-up. Not only do they not even acknowledge you when you are trying to get their attention, but they say "fifteen more minutes" when you have already waited over an hour and a half. The food is not bad, but way overpriced. So is everything in Valdez, though.

Just a fastfood type fish and chip restaurant that just happens to serve halibut..Not sure what is customary but they were many more fies than halibut in mine anyway.. Nice very informal fast food place ..

I saw the name and thought, hmm...sounds good. Well, it's essentially all deep fried stuff, with the exception of soup and cheeseburgers. I opted for the soup and cheeseburger, of which wasn't that great.
Oh well, who cares....I'm on vacation.
Favorite Dish: The napkin in which I wiped my face.

Small restaraunt on side, with a full bar on the other side. They have a live band who plays on the weekend, or so while i was there. Music is somewhat low key (ie. you don't have to yell to have a conversation.)
They have a pool table, dart board, and whatever that game is that's like shufflboard and you slide the heavy puck. Yeah, that's it.
It's definately a good atmosphere. As I heard of it, it's "the place to be" in Valdez :))

good food right in the grocery store. There is a fast in and out with good food, at a low price. Soup, salad, sandwich and hot food bars. Try the chili, egg rolls, cheese teasers, general taos chicken.

Easy in and out. You order food at a counter and serve yourself. The food is amazing and very cheap. Huge lunch for 7.50 + 1.50 pop. Ernestos a great guy too! Located on the main drag in the Head Hunters Bed and Breakfast on the left side past the post office sign.
Favorite Dish: Try the chicken enchiladas with red sauce and my husband loves the beef chimichanga with red sauce on the side.

The best place used to be Mike's on the harbour. But now there is new ownership and iit's okay. Ernesto's (Mexican place) is good too and not that expensive. Otherwise the restaurants in Valdez are not that great.
