The Cow Palace was established upon the site of an old general store in the days of Otho Kinsley. Kinsley established the Kinsley Ranch in 1920 and became famous for furnishing bucking horses and Brahma bulls to the now famous Fiesta de Los Vaqueros Rodeo. The Cow Palace became a renowned steakhouse and watering hole for Hollywood stars in the 1930s. Framed on the walls are photos of the likes of John Wayne, Douglas Fairbanks, and Mae West, alongside mounted heads of wildlife. Many movies were filmed in the area, such as "The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing," Pray For The Wildcat," "Tin Cup," "The Postman," and "Boys On The Side" and many of the stars ate here. The Cow Palace serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to include steaks, sandwiches and other fare. It also serves beers, wines, and cocktails. Hours are 8 AM to 9 PM daily. I have not eaten here yet; but look forward to trying it. The first photo is mine the rest are from their website.

The Longhorn Grill was built in the 70s and has one of the most unique entrances you have ever seen. It consists of what is probably the biggest simulated skull of a longhorn bull in the world. Inside you will find some great Southwestern comestibles (food) to include steak, nachos with homemade refried beans, a good selection of meat and potatos, pizza, and a recent addition some pasta dishes.

The Amado Market is a full service general store with groceries, gas, snacks, some clothing, etc. It is also the place to stop to learn about area attractions and to pick up some picnic supplies.
