Going into the Chandler Museum in Arizona by jumpingnorman, 1 more photos The Chandler Museum entrance is FREE! The Chandler Historical Society which was founded in 1969 suppoorts this education place which has a lot of information about the city. It is very small but packed with a lot of info on Chandler. We took pictures first at the gazebo just outside the Museum, and then entered the place which has a huge nopard where guests can write their comments and greetings. There was also an ostrich statue, possibly reflecting the recent Ostrich Festival held in this city. Exhibits include photo extravaganzas on the early days of Chandler, including remnants from the Hohokam Indians, info on Chandler Sports Hall of Fame, a Fireman Exhibit, a representation of the Morrison Grocery Store which was opened by Ernest Morrison in 1912 and was the first store in Chandler, photos on Dr. Alexander J. Chandler who became the first veterinarian in Chandler and an expert in irrigatioon which developed the area. ..and so much more in such a small Museum. My kids even found hoola-hoops and made my wife do the hoola, and they also enjoyed looking at the classic car "Eight" model and writing on the small classroom chalkboard. A small museum in the heart of Chandler and a nice place to knwo more about the city... Leave a Comment

Daughter in Jazz Festival in Chandler, Arizona by jumpingnorman, 1 more photos We chanced upon a Jazz festival while we were passing through Chandler and went down an had a lot of fun! The public park which we saw is named after Chandler’s town-square founder, Dr. Alexander Chandler. It is in downtown Chandler near the San Marcos Resort and numerous shops, galleries and restaurants. It hosts many special events and concerts throughout the year, including the Chandler Jazz Festival, the Tumbleweed Tree Lighting Ceremony and the First Wednesday ArtWalk. The city has over 50 parks! And a list can be found through your GPS in your car or through http://www.chandleraz.gov/default.aspx?pageid=288 Leave a Comment Address: 3 S. Arizona Ave. Chandler, AZ. 85225

Little Chichen-Itza-like pyramid in Chandler, AZ by jumpingnorman Chandler has the the San Marcos Resort in the heart of its downtown, and if you walk just outside the resort and near the Dr. A J Chandler Park, you will chance upon a little fountain which has a Chichen-Itza-like pyramid water fountain...very relaxing place where you can meditate and think about things. The kids of course just enjoyed playing around the fountains... And, if you do walk on, you might even see stalls where people may be selling their artwork, jewelry pieces, crafts...specially during the weekends or during special festivals like the Jazz festival which we chanced upon... An afternoon with the kids in Chandler, Arizona by jumpingnorman Chandler must be truly proud of this wonderful Arts Center which was opened in 1989. It has been the venue for countless ballet and dance performances, Broadway shows and musical extravaganzas, most notably jazz. Truly a very family-friendly place located right in the heart of Chandler. "The Chandler Center for the Arts is committed to supporting artistic excellence while engaging the entire community in new and exciting ways through an array of inspiring programs." This is their mission and they have not failed to deliver! In the past year, more than 150,000 students of all ages participated in arts educational programs that enhanced their studies, presented new ideas, and enriched their lives. So, when in Chandler, please support this wonderful center. Leave a Comment

Son with a classic EIGHT Car in Chandler, AZ by jumpingnorman There are several classic car shows on weeknights in the Metropolitan Phoenix area - where owners bring their wonderful cars for exhibition and to be appreciated. One of the more established meetings for car afficionados is right here in Chandler - at the Fulton Ranch Towne Center. And they are held on Friday nights from 6PM to 9PM. My favorites are the 1955+ Thunderbirds and the classic Corvettes! What are yours? Leave a Comment

THIS STREET (S. San Marcos Pl.)LEADS TO THE WINERY by Rich62 Way down at the end of this street, facing the camera, is the Kokopelli Winery. They have some very nice wines and tasting is available for a small fee. When we were there they had a most unusual wine, it was a Margarita Wine. If you like Margaritas, you will like this wine. I think its only about $10 a bottle. Leave a Comment Address: 35 West Boston StreetPhone: (480) 792-6927Directions: Between S. San Marcos Place and S. Arizona Avenue.Website: www.kokopelliwinery.com
