Open Grazing In Arizona by VeronicaG As we drove through the countryside towards Meteor Crater, we noticed cattle grazing in pastures running alongside the highway. Well, that's not so strange you might think. However, there were no fences to be seen because Arizona has an open grazing policy. Signs cautioning drivers that calves may be wandering the roadways, seemed so odd to us Northeasterners. We put fences around everything!

Looking at the opening within the lava tube cave by FROGandFLY I would take them to the caves around Flagstaff. There's plenty of GOOD caves up here and not a whole lot of people will tell you about them. I'd also have to take them to Snow Bowl. It's not the greatest place for snow sports, but it doesn't get as crowded as most other places.
My fondest memory of Flagstaff was the first time it snowed. I've lived in Phoenix, and other warm places all my life, and I haven't really ever been able to experience falling snow. Leave a Comment

by keeneye Experience the Natural Wonders of the area. San Fransisco Peaks, Wupatki National Monument, Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, Ice Caves, Schultz Pass, and an area secret, Lockett Meadow.
Clean air, clean water, clean living, low crime rate, small town. Leave a Comment

by keeneye Find a dirt road! Especially if you have a truck, or 4x4 vehicle. Dirt roads are everywhere around Flagstaff, and they lead to some of the areas most valued treasures. So, I'm not going to tell you what, or where they are, finding them will be half the fun! I dont recommend this in the winter, as most primitive roads are impassable. Bring lots of water, food, a map, and a friend. Stay on main roads, tread lightly, and be aware of weather, and surroundings. Good luck! I will give one hint. 'Woody Mountain'
The beautiful location, clean air, great locals, general vibe of my hometown. The wonderful scent of moist aspens changing colors in the Inner Basin of the San Fransisco Peaks. Leave a Comment

by dzni If I had to choose one thing to see near Flagstaff, it would have to be Walnut Canyon. Truly remarkable, this is a canyon on whose walls were built dwellings by ancient Native Americans (perhaps the Zuni??). At any rate, walk down a lot of stairs (couple hundred or so) and you can walk around the canyon and see the dwellings up close. Don't forget that you have to walk back up! It could be quite a bit of a climb if you're not used to that sort of exertion! Leave a Comment

by sim1 Route 66.... the feeling of going back in time.... the feeling of the 50's, Rock and Roll, old cars... Did I say "Going back in time"???? Hahaha, yes I did! And we actually were back in time! All the time I was in Arizona, I thought it was one hour earlier, than it actually was. Hahaha, yes, I am sometimes a bit blonde!!! when you enter Arizona from California or Nevada you have to watch your time! As you can see on the picture, you enter an other time zone. In Arizona it is 1 hour later. I didn't realize this until I was halfway through Utah :-) Leave a Comment
