The Museum Club opened in 1931 with the proclamation it was the "biggest log cabin in the world". That soon became in the nation, then in the state. It still holds one distinction though, it has the largest doorway made from a ponderosa pine split by lightning. Sometime around 1900 a Ponderosa Pine was struck by lightning. It then began to grow two equally sized trunks. You enter by walking through the middle of the trunks. The Museum Club's fortune continued to diminish when in the 1970s Interstate 40 replaced Historic Route 66 as the main east-west route through Flagstaff. The numbers of customers at this nightclub/museum continued to decline. It was bought and refurbished in 1978. Today you still gain entrance by walking through the trunks of the pine. The bar features a dance floor where you have to avoid the trees, a full service bar, TVs, an interesting mix of decor that includes an homage to Route 66, and Off-Track Betting. It is also reported to be haunted by former owners Don and Thorna Scott.

Amy, myself, and Jody Cinco De Mayo, 2003 by mrandmrsdevlin Although I am obligated to plug Felipe's because I work there, I really do think it's the best bar in Flagstaff. The food is really good, and there are a wide variety of margaritas and specialty drinks. It's a major "hotspot" for both NAU students and tourists. It's a great place to go for dinner and happy hour. Late night it turns into a "dance club" with girls dancing on the bar, etc. It's a fun place to hang out. Check out the upstairs balcony! by Galaktycka Despite the fact that I live for live music, the Zane Gray Ballroom was my destination in Flagstaff over Charly's downstairs in the Hotel Weatherford. I adore the Zane Gray because of its gorgeous wood bar and stained glass behind it, and for the antique photos and the fireplace... and most of all for the outdoor balcony! The balcony is quite large, and there are several tables outside that are great for a summer evening above downtown Flagstaff. It's a very swanky joint. If you plan to head upstairs from Charly's, make sure to trade in your glass for a plastic one. They don't want any broken glass on the street below!

by FROGandFLY I don't know about this place. I went and it was not all that great. Maybe it was just an off night.
When I went, cowboy boots were all the rage. As a vegan, I can safely say that I've never seen so many dead cows on feet. But that's just me. MUSEUM CLUB on Old 66 (East side of town). Historic 'roadhouse' on Old 66 offering country music in historic setting. As I recall, it's the largest wooden building of type in Arizona and is often called the 'ZOO'. Country music , live music on weekends, and many a star or star to be has played or been here over the decades.

Bar San Felipe. I'm not sure if this place still exists, but while I was in Flagstaff, this was the place to be! Mexican style bar with crazy people all around (including the staff!). Best thing about this place: they allow you to dance on the bar. Worst thing: last call at around 00.30! (Way too early...) Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: I really don't remember the street, but Flagstaff is small. You'll find it.

We ate up on the patio and this quaint bar and had a wonderful time. The view is incredible, and the only spot to see all of Flagstaff. The bar is so unique and old school.
