It's cool here, so bring some long pants and a jacket for the evenings. You'll be OK with shorts during the day, probably, especially if you venture from the city. This is for summer... I don't know about winter. Leave a Comment

Travel lightley and have fun.
Dress & pack clothing which allows you to 'peel like' an onion -- thus, you can afjust to the region and climates you encounter in this grand state. Bring a hat & comfortable shoes. Flagstaff is a Mountain town, so dress is casual at best. BRING & TRAVEL WITH WATER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flagstaff is at 7000 feet above sea level, so be prepared. (PHOENIX IS ABOUT 1700 ABOVE SEA LEVEL). ****************************************************** BRING SUN TAN LOTION as the sun is hotter than you think & pack a hat and comfortable shoes. ****************************************************** HAVE WATER WITH YOU WHEN U HIKE, DRIVE and EXPLORE.
Buy your supplies anyplace but Flagstaff --- the prices are high for film and such. You'll slso find many great photos and paintings as you travel the Northland, so u may consider that for the 'very best photos' or images.
If hiking Grand Canyon take the South Kaibab trail down and the BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL OUT. In general, whatever your time is getting to the bottom, you can double for your time out. My best time ever was 7 hours round-trip. If you opt to overnight @ Phantom Ranch be sure to make your reservations early with the THE FRED HARVEY (AMFAX) COMPANY. They book up fast.
Bring a good attitiude and get ready to enjoy anytype of activity you can imagine from cave exploration to flightseeing to just getting a suntan. Bring a hat, comfortable shoes, binoculars, suntan lotion (ALL-YEAR LONG) and TRAVEL WITH WATER AT ALL TIMES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Walk quietly where you go, listen to the winds from the mountain & take nothing but grand memories home with you. Leave a Comment

I was in Flagstaff from August til December and you actually need to bring clothes for all 4 seasons to cover that period! Weather varies from sunny to munsoon rain to thick layers of snow. Amazing! Leave a Comment

Dress in layers: always. The sun can be hot at daytime even in the winter. But as soon at it sets the tempretaure drops quickly. Sometimes it's almost like you can wear flipflops at day and moonboots at night ;-) There is a good chance of getting snow in the winter, though it can melt fast because of the everyday sunshine. Be prepared for anything in Flagstaff; the weather can change pretty fast, too. Flagstaff is surrounded with many beautiful areas to hike, so be sure to bring good hikingshoes and sunglasses and/or a hat. There are a lot of great goodwill-stores, so you can always get more clothes if you need it. There is also some cool cowboywear available; check out the Corral West at Wallmart.

Unlike other parts of Arizona, Flagstaff is at 7000' and gets summer "monsoons" during July and August afternoons that can really cool things off. A fleece jacket or a sweater is a good thing to have with you.

Our backyard after a snowstorm last Jan. by mrandmrsdevlin Just for the record...Arizona is not just a big sandbox. Flagstaff is at 7,000 feet and gets cold! If you're coming anytime between December and March expect snow. The summers are temperate, and usually top out at around 78 degrees.
We have a ski resort, as well as a ton of outdoorsy things to do so if that's your bag, then pack accordingly Leave a Comment
