Marble Canyon and these other attractions are within the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. There are no facilities within the monument just nice scenery.

Not far from Marble Canyon there is also a small place named "Cliff Dwellers". This is a surreal looking place with strange shaped rocks with houses built into them.

There is a Visitor's Center and several interpretive signs that can tell you about the bridge and the area. You can also buy any souvenirs you need here.

The view from the bridge is spectacular looking at the Colorado River 2500 feet below in the canyon.

Navajo Bridge was built in 1929 and replaced Lee's Ferry as the only way to get from one side to another. The bridge was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. The canyon is 2500 feet deep, leading down to the Colorado River.

On the road from 89A @ Marble Canyon north towards Lees Ferry you cross Cathedral Wash a couple of miles in. There is a park double info sign and pull over. Walk downhill a bit and enter Cathedral Wash. It starts all dark red then suddenly turns all white (the rocks that is). As you go down the 4+ slot canyon it continually changes and gets very narrow before opening up to a rocky beach on the river. In the canyon there are at least 2 very challenging and even hopeless looking dropoffs but look at the canyon sides and you will find a way around. There are some trail markers. In such a low el. (3000ft) place as Marble Canyon with furnace like conditions this canyon is very shaded in its deeper mid section. You can keep an easy eye on flash flood danger by looking up and back at the Vermillion Cliffs which contains that whole watershed. Very interesting and varied red, yellow, white, and turquoise rock carvings. Down at the river the water is swift with minirapids and a mini bay with a short back current eddy. A person with fins, a float, and a wetsuit could ride the river from Lees Ferry downstream (5 miles) to this point then climb out (or else float to Vegas) and walk up the canyon (5 miles) and then walk over the plateau to Lees Ferry or Paria Beach area (5 miles). I plan to try that next time.

When leaving from Page the 124 Miles distance from the Grand Canyon North Rim may seem reasonable, but don't forget you have to drive back the same way..and in our case we almost had to drive back to Page and then continu
our journey to Flagstaff about 120 miles...so we drove
about 360 miles in one day...and believe me that's a bit to much...
