    Pioneer Park

by Basaic Written Jan 21, 2013

Across Main Street from the Mesa Arizona Temple is a nice park dedicated to the pioneers who settled the town. Inside the park is this nice sculpture representing those pioneers.

    Stroll Down Main Street

Mesa is the third largest city in Arizona and the 38th largest in the country. For such a large city, though, Mesa retains a bit of a small town feel, especially while strolling down Main Street.

The grounds around the temple are also quite beautiful with ponds and lots of flowers. The main photo here is what remained of the Manger Scene they set up each Christmas.

The temple itself is very pretty and of interest to anyone that likes architecture. I really liked the carved panels on the side near the roof. The temple, of course, is not open to the public.

One of the volunteers working at the museum made this pedal airplane for the kids to ride when they visit the museum. Reportedly the kids love it.

This is the Mesa City Hall. Modern and not that exciting architecturally. Mesa is a nice city though.

Saguaro Lake is just 40 miles NE of downtown Phoenix and is even closer to Scottsdale. It's named for the Saguaro Cacti that grow all along the shoreline. That makes for some stunning views.

The Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum is a great experience. It is beautifully designed, very manageable in size, and the exhibits are fresh and exciting. We both agreed: it's the BEST in the area!
