Peoria Things to Do

  • Best Public Park in Peoria, AZ

One of the newer parks in Peoria is also one of the nicest around. There is a beautiful pond that runs on the west side of the park and it is part of the urban fishing program in the city. The Rec center is located near the pond and is equipped with rock climbing walls and a fitness center for a reasonable cost. The park has everything: sand...

  • Rock Wall Climbing

Inside Peoria's Rio Vista Park Rec center they have a large rock wall for kids to climb. There are four different areas of the rock to climb. The easiest one is the farthest on your right, towards the back door Fun indoor activity on a hot summer day. Kids have to be at least 5 years old and you must sign a waiver to climb.

  • All American Festival

If you happen to be in Peoria around 4th of July this is a great spot for the family. The city sets up numerous rides and games for the kids. They have a water zone and a Kids zone, as well as two bands playing. Fireworks are choreographed to music.

  • Challenger Space Center

Located next to the High School this is a great stop, especially for those who love space exploration. You can tour the center yourself, but I would recommend taking the tour you will learn more and it is the only way to see the Earth Space Transport Module. The Space Center has tours every hour starting at 10:00There is a 1/18th scale Space shuttle...

  • Lake Pleasant

Lake Pleasant is a short drive from NorthWest Peoria. One of the most visited lakes in Phoenix it was created by the Waddell Dam. Because of the close proximity to the city is a very popular destination for water sports, sailing and boating. There are plenty of spots to camp, fish, swim and hike as well.

  • Turtle love

Watch the turtles mate. Seriously. I would presume that is what they were doing unless they just like wildly "dancing" around each other. We all have to have our fun somehow.

Great food and ambiance. (See preceding primary tip.) Just had some more interior shots to share. Enchiladas Veracruz.

  • Ay, CaRAMba! La Comida Deliciosa!

This is a stylish dining experience with nice ambiance, friendly and helpful service, and succulent food. The prices are also very competitive. This is my preferred venue for Latin food period. Hmm. I'd have to choose the Enchiladas Veracruz. They are so good and filling I have ordered them several times. But you really can't go wrong here. I...

  • The pizza was delicious!

By the time I got to the restaurant, ADVENT (Anthony) and Basaic (Jim) were already there. They were sitting at a private room at Grimaldi's.The restaurant was very cozy and very beautiful. The tables were covered with checkered lines with the color of red and white. There are many customers sitting at the bar.The restaurant is very new. We ordered...

  • Great Pizza in a Nice Atmosphere

I attended my first VT Meet at Grimaldi's Pizzeria in Peoria, Arizona. The staff was very attentive, the food was fine and the company terrific. We had a very nice salad and pizza with three toppings. Although we did not have any, I think they serve alcohol too! May be a good place for another meet someday. Grimaldi's is located in the Plaza West...

  • Simple, great, delicious Chinese

I LOVE Big Heng! The food is always delicious and in humongous portions. I can call in an order, drive straight down there (a few blocks,) and it will invariably be ready by the time I arrive. They REALLY mean it when they say, "Your order will be ready in ten minutes!" Whenever I tip a buck or two, they always tell me, "Hold on!" and run in the...

Great comfort food and surroundings for any Southern exile. Yank'll like it, too! Always good food in a friendly, bustling, down-home atmosphere. Relaxed and family-friendly. C'mon down and say, "Howdy!" I have to say I am exTREMEly partial to the baked sweet potato loaded with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Can't go there for awhile though as...

  • Beautiful Food

This is where one can savor food to which Brenda has applied an appellation she's applied to no other. I still recall the first time she looked across the table and said in ecstasy, "This is 'beautiful food'!" My favorite is the Pan-Pacific shrimp, that includes shrimp prepared in three ways, while Brenda's is the macadamia-crusted mahi-mahi.

  • Local Chinese Inexpensive

The Aulde Dubliner Pub is a great place to eat and drink. They serve lunch and dinner and have a wide variety of beers, ales, etc. They also did not scrimp on the rum in my rum and cokes. The wait staff is friendly and efficient and the women are quite pretty. They have TVs tuned to different sports, and a nice decor.

    Dress Code: Casual is fine.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Fondest memory: You know it's too hot to be walking along the road when you can fry an egg in 5 seconds on it.

Now I'm not normally a complainer, but it was April for goodness sake. Plunge me in the Arctic anyday instead of submitting me to the desert in the middle of the summer.

    it's a long way home
