Karen's Mother, who lives in Tucson, took us to Tiny's Saloon & Steak House on a special mission to treat us to the half pound Steer Burger with French Fries for lunch. At only $5.50 it was a great bargain, and absolutely delicious too. Mom was sorry that she couldn't have brought us here on Tuesday. On that day the half pound Steer Burger & Fries goes for only $3.75. We enjoyed the casual Old West atmosphere of this place, and also the picturesque location on the outskirts of Tucson. The prices can't be beat. The menu showed a 16 oz. T-Bone Steak with bread basket, salad and baked potato for only $12.95. The 8 oz. top sirloin goes for $9.95. I usually eat more chicken and fish than steak, but with prices like that I might be converted into becoming more of a red meat eater. No offense to all of you VT vegetarians, but this is Arizona. I love those diners on truck routes--especially in the early morning. They could be known places like Denny's, or hometown restaurants with locally derived names--it didn't matter as long as the place smelled of truck drivers and old rubbery seats. I loved the old waitresses, who always seemed so tired, but were always willing to put on a smile for a small child. '...And what'll it be for YOU sweety?' They'd always ask. And I, in the most charming voice I could muster, would always say, as of the question were absurd, 'Pancakes and bacon with chocolate milk, please.' They always seemed to get a kick outta that... Smelly truck drivers, old rubbery seats, lingering cigarette smoke, an air of both relaxation and exhaustion...

Dahl & DiLuca Ristorante Italiano. Great restaurant that has a porch right next to Oak Creek. Kind of hidden.
Chicken Parmesana. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Ask at the hotel. I can't quite remember where it is. I know we had to search a little.

I have eaten at almost every restaurant in the state, and my favorite place to eat for authentic 'cowboy fare' is The Palace in Prescott. The atmosphere is great-very authentic and western. The waiters and waitresses dress up like characters in a John Wayne movie, and there are photos on the walls of local ranches and cowboys.
Being that I am under 21, I don't know about the drinks at The Palace, but my favorite non-alcoholic drink is the Palace Cooler. The best meal is the Southwest Chicken Quesadilla, served with sour cream and lots of guacamole on the side. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: The Palace is on Whiskey Row, in the heart of downtown Prescott.

Very cool place to hang out while eating and drinking a couple of beers. If it is nice out, sitting outside is recommended.

I could be biased because we had been in the car for about 6 hours from Las Vegas and were extremely hungry. This was the first place we saw. It turned out to be a wise choice. Nice decorations and cool atomosphere. Ask the waiter about different foods to try.

There is a nice coffee-breakfast shop just off the UofA campus to the west in Tucson that was nice, but don't know the name of it - it is in an old house. But the menu item below comes from the shores of the Colorado River.
Peanut butter and nutella burritos. On our particular trip, we had Americans and some Europeans along, so we came up with this particularly tasty item. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Just outside Sedona, we stumbled upon a small Thai restaurant situated in a mini-mall, the Tara Thai Cuisine. It was a very well done and clean establishment and the food was served without much delay. We really enjoyed our meal - it had been too long since our last Thai feed! Total cost with a tip was $25 including a couple of Singha beer. Leave a Comment Theme: Pan-Asian and Pacific RimAddress: Sedona
