 | Scottsdale Restaurants | Tips 41 - 50 of 51 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (51) What a great place. We didn't plan on coming here. First we tried Houstons but the wait was an hour and a half! So we tried Ruths Chris and the wait was even longer. As a last resort we tried Roy's but they were booked the entire evening. We walked by the Trattoria and said "Oh, let's just eat here." It's a small restaurant but it has a lot of charm. I felt like I could have been in any restaurant in Florence. The manager and the wait staff were great. Very attentive but not annoying. The food was delicious. My husband had the penne which was good. I had the lobster ravioli which was even better. I thought this place was a great find.

A decent place to get breakfast. Typical Denny's type fare. A little bit better than Denny's though. A huge menu. They have pretty much anything you could want. And they have a patio if you want to eat outside. Leave a Comment Theme: BreakfastComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: 13802 North Scottsdale Rd.

In 1958, Jack Huntress converted an auto repair store into a soda fountain-restaurant called the Sugar Bowl. This delightful eatery is still operated by the Huntress family and is a popular stop for visitors and residents alike .... ohh, and be sure to bring your sweet tooth ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Great place to stop in at the end of the day for some ice cream servedin an old fashioned ice cream parlor setting even with counter service. The staff and service was great, they all made you feel welcome to the parlor. Its vintage pink color scheme, inside and out, is a treat for the eyes, a happy reminder of the Sugar Bowl's beginnings in the 1950s as a town soda fountain. Have a delightfully old-fashioned grilled cheese sandwich or BLT sided by an "extra-luscious" malt, enriched with marshmallow and fudge or caramel sauce ......
Mary is the "ice cream officiadao", and has sampled many of their great offerings from a cup of ice cream, to a cone, a old fashion hot fudge sundea and of course, an old fashion banana split at the counter. Whatever you decide on, you'll love it also ......... Leave a Comment

The Hyatt is in the process of changing out all their restaurants at Gainey Ranch. This is a familiar place for me...I have been there a dozen times. The place is beautiful and that never gets old. However, theis new place...Vu...was not a good experience. We got an outdoor table which was very romantic. The wait staff was very friendly and knew the menu....problem was there wasn't that much to know! There were 6 appetizers and 6 dinner choices...unless you wanted the tasting 2 hour chef's delight....no thanks. My wife (vegetarian) only had one appetizer choice and two fish choices for dinnner. I opted for the salad (her one choice) and was presented with a beautiful piece of art....no lettuce...but it was beautiful. I know it had beets and cheese and walnuts, but really, no lettuce. I thought salad meant lettuce? My wife, starving and only eating bread, ordered a fish and I ordered tenderloin. Her fish was served on a huge plate, which made the child-like portion seem even smaller. We actually laughed at how little food she got....a small palenta side...and nothing else. At least my 3 small pieces of meat came with a dollop of mashed potatoes, which I offered to my wife. NO veggies...nothing else. I couldn't bring myself to order dessert. If we didn't have a great sense of humor, I would have been livid. The total bill, with two glasses of wine, was $120! Obscene is the only word I can think of. I picked a crummy place for our anniversary! I don't mind paying for a good meal, but I sure want to feel special when I leave. Here, I felt violated.
Ummmm....my favorite dish WAS the dish...because it was better than the actual food....and there was more of it! Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanPrice: US$41 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: most expensiveAddress: Hyatt at Gainey RanchDirections: Doubletree Rd east of Scotttsdale Rd

The food was delicious. The restaurant was very upscale with an older crowed. I felt like I had 4 different waiters at the same times which made it a bit confusing. But overall the food and atmosphere was great. Theme: SeafoodPrice: US$41 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than average

Excellent. Great date place, or a place for the girls to have a nice night out. Outdoor seating is available as well.
My favorite is the bread and cheese platter on the appetizer menu. Leave a Comment Theme: ItalianPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 15034 N Scottsdale Rd # 140 Scottsdale, AZPhone: (480) 603-0922

this restaurant is in several locations. the one i went to was just outside the entrance to the heard museum in downtown phoenix, but there is also one in the scottsdale arts district. the one in scottsdale is open every day, 11 am to 3 pm; reservations are suggested. they focus on salads, sandwiches, and desserts. there is a good selection of beer ($3-$5) and wine ($5-$10/glass). entrees are from $10 to $12, desserts approximately $6. in addition to scottsdale, there are four other locations -- (1) heard museum, 2301 north central avenue, phoenix, AZ, 85004, 602/251-0204; open every day, 9:30 am to 3 pm (2) phoenix art museum, 1625 north central avenue, phoenix, AZ, 85004, 602/257-2191; open tuesday through sunday, 9 am to 5 pm, closed on monday (3) city bakery at bentley projects, 215 east grant street, phoenix, AZ, 85004, 602/253-7200; open monday through friday, 8 am to 4 pm, and saturday, 7 am to 3 pm, closed on sunday (4) desert botanical garden, 1201 north galvin parkway, phoenix, AZ, 85008, 480/481-8106; open every day, 8 am to 4 pm (seasonal hours, though, so call first) my ratings on satisfaction, price, and relative cost are for the one next to the heard museum, but i would be surprised if the one in the scottsdale arts district is very different from that one!
at the location next to the heard museum, i had the strawberry chicken salad, which had generous amounts of chicken, strawberries, almonds, and greens. mine had a poppyseed dressing, but i think you can choose what dressing you want if poppyseed is not your favorite! with a glass of wine, my total was $18. this is a medium-size restaurant where a lot of locals go. it is open on monday through friday from 6 am to 3 pm, with lunch from 11 am to 3 pm. on saturday and sunday, it is open from 8 am to 3 pm. breakfast is served all day every day. there is free parking behind the restaurant and additional free places to park on nearby streets. even though it was crowded when i went, i did not have to wait very long, especially since i was alone and was willing to sit at the small bar toward the back. there are windows everywhere, so the place feels very airy and spacious. they have lots of different kinds of specialty coffees and lots of different kinds of egg/omelet dishes, pancakes, and belgian waffles.
i had a very satisfying belgian waffle plus iced coffee for approximately $10. for people not from the scottsdale/phoenix area, the fry's grocery stores take the kroger "frequent shopper" cards as well as their own card (for discounts). Leave a Comment Theme: Grocery Store/Market

this is a very small place that i discovered by accident. it is a good place to eat while you are cruising the part of scottsdale known as "old town." it has approximately 10 seats at the bar, three tables for four people, and three tables for two people. there is a huge selection of liquor, beer, and wine. it seems very much a neighborhood place; many of the people when i was there seemed to know each other. service is fast and friendly. basically, they serve sandwiches, hamburgers, and other casual food. on sunday, they have a breakfast buffet from 10 am to noon. from sunday through thursday, they have dinner specials starting at 5 pm. from monday through saturday, they open at 11 am. i forgot to ask, and could not find anywhere, when they close on any of the days!
i had a half-pound bacon cheeseburger (plus fries, i think, i can't remember now) and a soft drink for approximately $11.
