    Like most popular tourist...

    by L._A. Written Aug 24, 2002

    0.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Like most popular tourist destinations, Scottsdale is overpriced and has a lot of overly expensive souvenir shops. Better to get indian jewelry in less expensive area of town.
Also don't flash money or be too trusting. Just behave as you would in any tourist destination where unscrupulous people could be watching for naive tourists!

Celebrity Charity Events during Super Bowl

by MDUBYAZ Written Feb 5, 2008

OK, so it seems every 6 years Arizona is honored to host the Super Bowl, which is the sports parties of parties(maybe except for the World Cup). Anyway, there is always a ton of special events associated with it where cover charge is something crazy like 500-1,000.00 us dollars (worth less every second). This particular event was hosted by Pamela Anderson and had lots of famous celebs and athletes. I actually played at a poker table with Jamie Gold(last years winner). Even though I only finished 40th out of 200, it was fun. However, the $1,000 entry fee/donation(a tax write off) was incredibly poor judgment on my part. Again, it was for charity so that is all that really matters, right? Oh, and Pamela Anderson did say hello to me as she passed by ;)

Unique Suggestions: Have your friends pay for the entry fee

Fun Alternatives: Dont play poker in a charity event

  • Salt River Tubing can be dangerous!

by transaccent Written Aug 29, 2008

If you're unfamiliar with salt river tubing don't be fooled in to thinking it's not risky by the pics on the ads that tell you it's fun and cool. The exits are not well planned and if you end up getting off your tube for any reason there is a huge chance that the fast flowing water can take you. If you're a great swimmer you will survive but if you're not it can be dangerous. I would be really cautious about taking children under the age of 12 eventhough the recommended age is 8 years or older. Also, take some cash to rent the tubes as they don't take credit cards.

Unique Suggestions: Take plenty of sun screen
    Wear a life vest
Don't carry anything you don't need

Fun Alternatives: If you want to experience the river, you can choose a kayak instead of a tube.
