These are a neat service Sedona provides its tourists and locals. This service is free and runs from Clear Creek Trading Company on Hwy 89A all along and down to Hillside Shops and Galleries on Hwy 179 and then back. They stop at all the public parking areas and many shopping locations along the way.

We did not notice the signs or that many of the parking areas along the Sedona Center mall area are timed on Hwy 89A. We parked along the street early in the morning to catch our Pink Jeep Tour, since there was no one around. So right after our tour, we headed for the car and had a very polite warning on our car. No ticket, just a nice warning. Although, the warning stated that they recorded our car as to keep track if we decide to test the time limit again. Hmmm, ah no…lol. I bet they give many out due to the high volume of tourist who visit here. I thought it was pretty nice that they give out warning first, unlike many cities.

Any question please call that number: Sedona Parking Ambassador

When you are here driving around, you will come very familiar with the term the "Y". All the locals refer to it and I can perfectly understand why they do. It is the major intersection in this town. It is where Hwy 89A and Hwy 179 intersect.

To us we were able to find a parking spot each time we came to the Uptown area. The other parking areas were always filled and crowed with others trying to find a spot. We accidentally found this place, so after that we always came here each time and found a spot. So keep that in mind the next time you’re here. The Sedona Roadrunner stops here along its route too.

Do you want to travel in style in Sedona?

Well, here's a great thing. Sedona have this pink jeep rentals. They are absolutely good-looking jeeps. They are great to drive on the rugged terrain of Sedona!

I have to tell you though that I am not sure how much it would cost per hour to rent it. We rented an SUV Toyota Highlander 2009 for my family and it cost us $79.00 per day plus we have to buy insurance for it!

The off-roads in Sedona are rough and dusty. If you wanted to experience rough driving in Sedona, there are All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV)'s rentals.

This is the best way or the pink jeep to explore Sedona (besides walking and hiking).

    Hummer Rentals

There are different ways of getting to the rough and off-roads in Sedona. One way is driving the big and powerful Hummer!

Sedona is really cashing in to their millions of visitors every year. They also connect to their more affluent visitors! They also rent out Hummers!

We didn't rent one because we already rented an SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle). If we rented this SUV for $79.00 per day, I would say that the Hummer must be more expensive! Bear in mind that the Hummer uses a lot of gas!

I Know That it Looks Sad
    !
    by Bwana_Brown
As we continued on south from Sedona to Phoenix, I was not sure what opportunities we would have in the remainder of our trip to get out and see some countryside. As a result, I was worried that I might not get a decent photo of a cactus. The traffic on Interstate 17 was whooshing along steadily and you almost took your life in your hands if you slowed down enough to pull off onto the shoulder of the road (not to mention pulling back out). Nevertheless, we finally managed to come to a stop where we saw a few cacti appearing. We had to climb up a steep hard dirt bank to get to them, where I managed to bag this sad looking specimen! On returning to the car, my wife's legs were not able to keep up to her body as we came back down the steep bank and she took a tumble that tore the knee of her jeans! She was not very impressed by my little exploratory trip that had ended up with such poor results! You will understand the reason why when you see the cactus that really impressed us later on, in my Apache Junction page!

  • I would suggest Sedona as a side trip, so you're most likely already in Arizona for something else, like the Grand Canyon! ;) Anyway, if you're coming from Flagstaff, definitely take state road 89A through Oak Creek Canyon. If coming from Phoenix, the quickest root would probably just to get off the interstate and then drive slightly north on 89A. Although, I would still reccommend making your way through Oak Creek!
Not a very big town.. park your car and then walk around the little shopping area.
