With a large university right next door, Tempe has more than its share of night spots. I did not check them out but these are supposed to be good ones. If a student tells you they are going to the library, it may not be what you think. There are innovative panhandlers too. One guy wanted money for "ethanol research."

I dig this place... the bar was acctually imported piece by piece from Ireland. Its authentic, but a little bit high end as far as Irish Pubs go, so it fits right into the trendy Mill avenue thing... lots of college kids there... Not suprising, as its less than a mile from Arizona State University...
If you've never been to Mill avenue, Tempe, its a blast... its full of trendy and hip little spots, shopping... everything... Rula bula is about at the end of Mill ave, just before the bridge, if you're headed north... Plenty of Guinness and irish beers, and They have great pub grub, traditional Irish and international grub... the food is definatly a cut above your standard pub chow... so its a good place to go just for dinner also. Its clean, attractive place and always a good time, with a fun and shakin atmosphere.... be warned on st. patricks day... this place will definetly max out the fire code occupancy limits....

This place definitely stole their concept from Coyote Ugly. Bartendars dancing bar tops, customers too, but different because it had books and sofas. There was definitely a lot of people there the night that I went. Don't know if it is too good when school is out. Definitely a college hangout. The place is alright if you're into the college crowd bar type deal...otherwise head up to Scottsdale to where the clubs are.

If you want a great club to dance the night away the best one to go to is Margarita Rocks. The best nights to go are Fridays and Saturdays of course. This place is right near the ASU campus so if school is in session expect an even bigger crowd.
Dress Code: Anything goes as long as it doesn't count as nudity.

Mill Avenue is the main drag of Tempe, AZ. Lots of restaurants, live entertainment, and shopping. Mainly caters to University crowd...but also attracts upscale shoppers from Scottsdale to the north and 'lowriders' from central Phoenix. Very colorful.
Art Fairs are big. One of the biggest New Year's Eve bashes is in Tempe. They close Mill Avenue and have a street party with bands and fireworks.
Dress Code: casual. Shorts and sandals most of the year. This is the desert!
