Rula Bula is not just a fun pub; it is also an excellent Irish restaurant. In the winter when the weather is cool, the outside dining is nice; otherwise, stick to the air conditioning indoors.
Favorite Dish: The corn beef and cabbage was delicious.
There are many ethnic restaurants in Tempe. One of my favorites is the Sahara. Ali Aziz's family has owned and operated this small restaurant for 15 years. You cannot go wrong on their menu and the prices are reasonable. There are also many vegetarian entrees. Because it is small and such a good restaurant, the Sahara can be full at the prime lunch and dinner hours. There is plenty of off-street parking though.
Favorite Dish: The mixed grill plate ($12.95) has kafta kebab, shawirma and chicken tikka served with rice, pickled cabbage and fresh pita bread. A delicious red lentil soup comes with it or you may have a salad (don't miss the house salad dressing). Their pickled cabbage is wonderful.
Wong's Place was a great find when I was in Chandler because it's a Chinese resto and they serve rice :). They serve good, reasonably priced food and Tsingtao beer.
My favorite dish from this restaurant is the grilled sea bass.
***While doing research for Wong's Place, somebody mentioned in a review that you should check the health report first.
Favorite Dish: Grilled sea bass. :)
Waffle House is a chain of restaurants existing primarily in the Southern USA. How this one got here I don't know. It's sort of like an IHOP, but I'm sure Waffle House fans will cringe at the comparison (though not as much as IHOP fans!). Waffle House is simple, basic, cheap American grub - waffles, bacon, sausage, hash browns (with a huge choice of toppings). Niiiiice!
Favorite Dish: The hash browns - scattered, smothered and covered (that's with grilled onions and a slice of American cheese on top). The waffles are great, of course, and their lunch menu's good, too.
I'm pretty sure it's open 24 hours.
WARNING! Like most Waffle House's they take CASH ONLY!
I did not at the time realize this restaurant is a chain. (there are none in Montana) It was busy all the time and everyone looked to be enjoying themselves. We sat outside and watched life on Tempes Mill streeet go by.
Favorite Dish: The appetizer of lettuce leaf wraps was outstanding and the pork lo mein was just as good. My son and I shared each of these and our bill was around $20.
There must be 100 restaurants in downtown Tempe yet this one has to be the most popular. Day or night there would be 10 or 20 people waiting for a table at a restaurant that probably sat 100 people. The food is simple, pizza, salads, sandwiches, pasta. Delicious. The atmosphere is great, the extremely busy waitstaff always maintained a very friendly attitude.
Favorite Dish: From the menu: A tomato cream sauce covers this baby, topped with spiced feta cheese, bacon, diced roma tomatoes and cheddar cheese. (it was a thin crust pizza)
But honestly, we ate here twice and loved everything we had. The portions are HUGE.
Well, if you want to enjoy a cool meal with friends, in a good atmosphere, you can go there. The Minder Binder's restaurant is not in the downtown of tempe, but really close (it's better to go by car anyway).
The food is good and the prices are low and the admosphere is really ... interesting : look out the menu, you can find a pic of the chief (really funny)
Favorite Dish: Well ... Minder Binder Hamburger... I only tast this one ;)
Pita Jungle has a funky, artsy atmosphere, plays great music, with a cool decor inside. There are tons of vegetarian options, and they have delicious salads, pitas, pizzas, fish entrees, etc.
Favorite Dish: My favorite is the lentil fatoush sald--greens piled high with yummy lentil and rice, with little pita squares--ask them to add chicken and it's perfect.
The Mediterranean Platter is also excellent; it's a compilation of about six appetizer options on one plate: hummus, stuffed grape leaves, tabouli, baba ghanouj, etc.
Get the rice pudding for dessert!!
We have Hooters back at home ...weren't looking for anything crazy so we figured why not ...it's a fun atmosphere...mostly lots of guys drinking beer....not too many girls go there for the obvious reasons =) Some of the guys actually got a kick out of us being the only females there other than the waitresses.
Favorite Dish: Known for their wings....I personally am not a fan.
Small resterant that serves Italian food. Great pizzas with its own speciality dessert.
Warm Pizza dough cookie with either white or brown chocolate chips covered with Icecream. If you can't secide which you want they will do half and half.
This resterant gets extremely busy so beware.
Favorite Dish: I had a bistro pizza which was a cheese abd tomato pizza but the tomato sauce had onions, basil and other things chopped into it. It was extremely tasty.
they also serve pasta
Bamboo club is a lovely resterant with great food. It has a really extensive menu of chinese food. The cocktails are great too.
Favorite Dish: I had a crispy whole red snapper $18, it was served with rice and had a delicious ginger sauce with it. The cocktails are just over $6, they bring adessert tray out with aselection of cheesecake, chocolate cake and fruit.
This resterant has quite a posh feel to it. There is a big sushi bar in the middle where you can sit or you can sit at tables in Booths. There is a whole range of food, there is a big menu of Sushi and lots of different stir fried dishes etc
Food is great but very hot for me.
But they are more than happy to do the taste the way you wish to have low mild and hot, anf the fire.
GO for it great food the Mexico
Great no complaints. Good service nice and friendly staff.
Favorite Dish: If I was able to eat I would have tryed the lot.
We both ate till we couldn't walk. The Staff helped my to get up from my chair at DON PABELO
